Get to know Oak Meadow High School English teacher, Marnie Rodgers! Marnie holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English and Education from Smith College. She attended University of Kansas for graduate work in English, where she taught as a TA and completed her Master’s thesis in poetry. She joined Oak Meadow as an English teacher in 2000, while working in a local independent bookstore and raising three sons. An National Endowment for the Humanities scholar in 2016, Marnie was the first distance-learning teacher to participate in the program, The Immigrant Experience in California through Literature and Theater.
Currently, she lives with her family and three cats in southern Vermont where she gardens, swims, and walks along the river. Marnie loves teaching, writing, and books—novels, historical fiction, science fiction, fantasy, history, and science. Back in the days of Harry Potter, she began reading young adult fiction extensively, and she enjoys discovering what students are reading.
