Marine buddy of mine was deployed to the Phillipines and he told me that the Filipino marines were one of the only things that ever made him uneasy. Their work ethic met with their lethal hand to hand combat and dedication to their cause makes them a truly formidable ally.

a Filipino US Army Ranger by the name of Sgt Jungle (5 foot 2" height Native of Zambales) taught the US special forces on how to live in the jungle for a month having only a hunting knife and c compass. This was in the 70s.
