Mega Bee Swarm moves into compost bin.

A swarm arrived at Reg’s compost bin at 9:30 a.m. Twenty minutes later, he messaged me to let me know that the swarm had left and that only a few bees were hanging around.

After reassuring Reg that swarms are very gentle and not out to attack anyone, I encouraged him to peek inside the bin. “Just lift the lid by an inch or two,” I told him.

Somehow, Reg managed to flip the lid off entirely and was instantly surrounded by a cloud of bees! It must have been quite a sight 😂

After receiving zero stings (as expected), Reg managed to install a temporary lid. All of the bees went back inside, and that is where this video begins…

Amazing I could never get enough of the bees and their fascinating life and ability to take a cave and turn into storage full of healthy, sweet honey. In this case I was a pretty nice space you gotta give them credit.

One sting and I go into anaphylactic shock and usually only know that I was stung after waking up with swollen body in a hospital bed with all my clothes cut off of me lol 😅

Good job! I found a bumblebee nest in my garden today. From what I researched, they are bees with stingers, and I’m worried my dog might sniff around and get stung. I also don’t want to harm the bees. I placed a pot with a hole in the bottom to protect the nest and prevent accidents, but I’m not sure if the bees will be able to pass through it. Tomorrow, during the day, I’ll check. Can you give me some advice on how to handle the situation?

did you get stung during the move ? I'm always confused seeing people seemingly fine approaching and disturb the nest, while I was taught that bees get defensive when things disturb their nest
