still waiting for a beautiful and well written story of two women of color falling in love 😭

Not only are they always white but they’re also always skinny. What I would do to see a love story between two dark skin and brown skin gay men who are on the bigger side

Also, even when the queer couple is interracial, one of them is still typically white. Do they know interracial doesn’t always have to include white folks??

as a chinese it's so difficult to reconcile my race and sexuality because asian media is so conservative and almost never centres on queer characters/relationships, while western media lacks asian representation 😭 i just want to watch 2 chinese girlies fall in love please

I remember when I watched young royals with a couple of friends (for context we're colombian) we got excited when Simón talked with his mom in spanish and seeing latinamerican representation overall

I would LOVE if The Henna Wars was turned into a TV show or movie (it’s a sapphic book about a desi muslim girl and a black girl who fall in love. It’s very enemies to lovers and a super cute story)

There’s a lack of racial diversity in queer shows and films, which all of us find unfortunate. There’s plenty of unique cultures and traditions all around the world that needs to be appreciated a lot more on a broader scale. Somehow writers out there would be able to realize this and get their creative juices flowing for future projects. Great analysis, by the way. Just know we will be here to support you.

As a white queer person, I want to thank you for making these types of videos. Since everyone looks like me I used to not notice this as much, but you and others pointing out the lack of queer POC (especially trans men like myself) really help me think more critically about all the media I watch. It's opened me up to a plethora of new dynamics and expectations that many queer poc have to deal with, and how little y'all get for it. You guys rock, I hope one day representation doesn't have to be begged for, but is a given.

This goes for love stories in general bc there's rarely any mainstream straight couples where both characters are poc. Always has to have one white person or part white.

As much as I love heartstopper, I agree. I need to see more poc queer stories

as an asian person this is why i don’t watch western queer media, i love watching asian BL dramas. I think they’re a lot better than those western shows. The Thai, Korean, Japanese, and Taiwanese BLs are really good.

this video is absolutely needed. can you do another deep dive on why sapphic/lesbian shows are ALWAYS cancelled or erased? like were tired of it lmao

This is why I loved HBO’s Sort Of. It’s about a nonbinary Pakistani-Canadian navigating the tension between their culture and familial role and the pull of (white) queer individualism. So many shows depict queer people as mere content to be consumed by straight people, either to look at with pity or admiration, but never fully human.

YESS WE ARE TIRED. And why it can’t be 2 different people of color? Like a black person and Latino etc. it’s always yt love interest lol. Yes let’s talk about it. Pose is a good show as well. At this point imuRgency can you please right and direct a show for us lol. There is one show with a Latino and black couple on Netflix it’s called what if but they are side characters lol and the show didn’t get renewed for a season 2

i was just talking about this topic with my friend, like i’m tired of a lot of queer stories just being about the same group of quirky white teens

this is why i love the video game butterfly soup. it stars queer asians who deal with issues regarding their sexualities and their race, and the two main relationships are both poc+poc, and it's really refreshing. i'm an indian lesbian and butterfly soup is the first time i've seen a character who's like me :) the sequel of the game just came out yesterday and it goes a lot deeper into their cultures and it was so relatable

Noah's Arc is a good show to involve in this conversation. I have wanted to see another show like it forever
