July is Minority Mental Health Awareness Month.
#DepthOfMyIdentity

In 2008, July was designated as Minority Mental Health Awareness Month to bring awareness to mental illness in underrepresented groups. While the term ‘minority’ is traditionally associated with racial, ethnic, or cultural minorities within the United States, Mental Health America (MHA) is focused on expanding this term to include individuals from a wide-range of marginalized and underserved communities, including those who identify as part of the LGBTQ+ spectrum, refugee and immigrant groups, religious groups, and others.

Through their efforts, they aim to shed light on the mental health of these groups.

Why are mental health and mental illness not regularly talked about in minority communities? They should be. Anyone can have a mental illness. Move beyond the stigma! Join MHA and their partners throughout July to learn more. Use the hashtag #DepthOfMyIdentity.
