Congress Presidential Polls: Kerala Leaders Not Happy With Shashi Tharoor's Move To Contest

The fight for the top post in the Congress party will just be between Mallikarjun Kharge and Shashi Tharoor after the application of former Jharkhand minister KN Tripathi was rejected today.

The forms submitted by the candidates have been scrutinized, Madhusudan Mistry, senior Congress leader and the returning officer for the election of the party president, said at a press conference today

Mr Kharge has already been all but selected to be elected! There will be no real change under Mr Kharge. He is too old, too loyal and too ineffective to make any significant difference.
India sorely needs a strong opposition party. The hope was that the Congress would somehow reinvent itself and rise to the occasion. But, that looks very unlikely.
Despite a complete lack of leadership qualities, the Gandhi siblings have the party in their chokehold and, no matter what, they would rather see it dead than part with EFFECTIVE control to someone else wiser and more capable than Rahul.
Under the circumstances, perhaps it is time for the citizen to label the Congress "dear departed" and look for another alternative in, perhaps, AAP or TMC.
Mr Kharge will be a convenient fall guy to take the blame for the inevitable demise of the Congress.
As for Mr Tharoor, his career prospects would be considerably enhanced by shifting to TMC or AAP, the outfits which are the most dynamic, next only to the BJP. As the Head for expansion into Andhra, Telangana Pondicherry, Tamilnadu, Kerala and Karnataka, he can surely contribute a lot with his charisma, energy and the unique ability to confuse people with abtruse English! He can even go to the TMC but there his choice slot is already taken by Mahua Moitra, who has an advantage, bring a fellow-Bong to Mamata!
