The incident is way more disturbing. Apparently, multiple people were involved in the assault and the principal's statement was "it was irresponsible of her to be alone this late at night". They are saying it is a suicide and the camera footage is not available at that time.
The saddest part is the political landscape in India is the worst. No matter which party you are involved in, everyone will suppress the allegation if it affects them.

I am from Kolkata and let me tell you that the incident is a lot more disturbing! In the seminar hall the girl was tortured and murdered. We think there were more than 7 people. (150 grams of semen was found, but one person has 15-20 grams of semen)
First of all they gangraped her and then they murdered her.
That guy named Sanjoy Ghosh is a scapegoat, there are more people involved, in fact 2 interns at the same hospital are involved.
And it's not a simple rape, it's more than that. The evidence is being destroyed because there are some high profile people involved in it.
We are protesting a lot, but it seems like our Chief Minister and the system doesn't care.
In fact the principle, HOD, none of them care about this! The principal said " It's the girl's fault, she didn't have to stay alone at night in the seminar room"

I am immensely depressed by this incident, I can't sleep at night, we do want justice.

It's not just a rape!! There are so many things hidden behind it! The girl got to know some of it and voila they killed her!
And guess what? Just because some of the criminals who did this to her had huge political power so their names are not getting revealed, even police aren't trying to investigate much!

If you can, please share this incident as much as you can, we want justice, we want a world where we women can live peacefully and fearlessly.

Btw it's come out now the person arrested wasn't the only one involved. Autopsy says it would take at least 4 people to inflict the injuries she suffered. And a call audio got leaked with doctors in the college discussing that they can't rat out the actual criminal as he has a family with immense political influence

Edit : They found 150mg of semen inside her, an average person can have only 15mg . Also there were shards of broken glass in her eyes suggesting her face was smashed into the floor leading to her glasses breaking and puncturing her eyes . Absolutely disgusting .

Edit 2 : Few things happened -
1.People started to share pictures of the Victim's corpse on social media and its absolutely inhumane so please don't.
2.Mamata Banerjee made some disgusting comments on how the victim was at fault and how her "character was not good". She tried saving her blunder by protesting alongside civilians but didn't realise it's against her own government. She is getting clowned on the internet
3.Another rape case has come out in Burdwan University and people have been arrested and had their homes raided by Kolkata Police. This includes protestors and even people who just shared news about the second case on social media . They tried to suppress it calling it a hoax but it didn't work.
4. It seems the victim's clearance for her degree was kept at hold by the Institute, like they do with many other students they don't like or want to force them to do something. She had been harassed like many others for months and then she told the administration that she will tell this to the media and have everyone arrested. So it's possible the institute administration had all of this planned to silence her as it could also bring light to them handing out degrees to undeserving candidates due to political or financial reasons. They never thought it would cause such massive public outrage .

Edit 3 : More information has come out that apparently this wasn't the end of it . The entire administration was also involved in illegal organ trafficking and threatened to ruin the careers of any students that dared speak out in case they found out . 31 alleged perpetrators had their homes raided recently by CBI and 5 prime suspects have been subjected to polygraph tests . The general public has called for resignation of Mamata Banerjee by 27th August . This has lead to violent protests around the state leading to clashes between police and protestors . I myself have had my college classes suspended from tomorrow onwards due to the immense unrest here .

What happened at my college. It was around 7 PM and the last evening class was about to end. A girl decided to use the bathroom right before class ended and a guy followed her in and tried to assault her. Thankfully he couldn’t figure out how to unbutton her jeans and just gave up and ran away.

I saw the guy running out of the building at a distance. When I went to investigate I saw the girl crying hysterically to (who would next year become) student body president. That experience/close call ended up making her decide to run for a student body president, she won and her first order of business was installing security cameras all over campus. They’re still there to this day. Thank goodness that story had a happy ending!
