i am real madrid fan in la liga (arsenal in EPL). I used to watch most of the games played by Real madrid only. It is quite natural that if you are real madrid fan, you almost certainly hate barca and dont like to watch their game too often. I used to like CR. But for the past 2 years, i have been watching both games quite regularly no matter its Real or Barca. Then I came to realize everytime I watch barca game, Messi is so much in the game. He plays more elegantly than CR even though CR is good. And the point is that, in the past 2 years people say CR has been much better but still overall gameplay of Messi is still very good when even not in the form. If you talk about messi's goal, he has lots and lots and if you talk about team play, its even more beautiful than the goals. Messi's through pass is a killer-pass. 

Having said that I am not a messi fan boy, but boy, I cant deny after watching both of their games regularly that any day Messi would stand out even when not scoring a goal in a match. SO Please, dont judge just by watching only messi or CR game. You need to watch both of their game in order to give your verdict. I admit I was stupid to say CR was best when I used to watch mostly real games 2 or 3 year ago. But now things has changed. But still support Real madrid. when playing against barca, i fear just for the reason that there is a man called MESSI in that barca team.

After being a long time C. Ronaldo fan I have to say I finally realise how much better Messi is, I like how CR7 does his skills and fancy things but he looses posession often. Cristiano is more complete but even thought Leo is smaller, weaker, more one footed and simply less athletic, He is still the better player. Ronaldo is the better athlete, Messi is the better player. Messi is a deadly goalscorer and a playmaking GENIUS. He makes plays happen and sets up his team mates. There is just something about Messi, the same as in Maradona and other Genius players that they have. Ronaldo doesnt have that, but dont get me wrong, I'd rather watch 10h of Ronaldo highlights than Messi. I like arrogant, showboating, flairy and selfish skillers, but Messi is the best player in the world.

BOTH are out of this world. But for me Messi has that magic touch of the ball and when hes on the ball you know that anything can happen. Ronaldo had an unreal last season and those before were amazing aswell. However for me Ronaldo can sometimes go missing in matches and sure Messi has bad games too but is always more or less the standout player on the pitch. And 2012 was just absolutley dominated by Messi and he was only 25.
In my opinion  Messi is the best player of all time. But Ronaldo is not far behind!

if only people would ever take into account Ronaldos early years at Sporting and Manchester United (but they do take Messi's early years) the stats wouldn't look so good would they? Which begs the question why don't they?

Why take the whole career of one player and compare it to the best part of anothers? Thats my question

For Ronaldo to be the best player, Messi has to be off-form, but for Messi to be the best player, he just has to be on-form. An on-form Messi is head and shoulders above anyone, and I mean ANYONE.

These two are exceptionally phenomenal! But i think Messi is just a little bit better. He gives a bit more to the whole game. Respect to both and we are so lucky to witness this rivalry!
