In 2019, a partner of mine took his own life after a phone call to me. It was not really a call out of the ordinary, he had been with a friend having a few drinks. I had no idea he was struggling with so much. I wished up and down that I could have been there, and just talked to him, about anything. For months I’d dream about saving him in different scenarios.

Being on the other side of something like this, being able to talk from experience, please talk to those around you. If you think you won’t be missed, you’re wrong. There is always someone for you, you just are missing it. The world is so populated with people- look around you and breathe.

It’s 2023 and I am just now finding the strength to put myself into counseling. To anyone else that has experienced something similar I am so, so sorry. Hold those around you, and let them hold you. They might not understand how you feel, but you are loved.

I can’t imagine being so in love and close to someone and not realize he’s wanting to end his life that would break me in millions of pieces not being able to fix or talk with him and help, that is soo hard I honestly hope no one ever loses a loved one over suicide

A 16 year old wouldn't have been prepared to help a grown man with his problems. I'm sure she never imagined it would end like that. And what grown man would expect that from a young teenager... This was just an unfortunate situation all around. They just shouldn't have ever even been together. 😶

I tried to take my own life 5 years ago. But I couldn't because I was the only child of my parents. And while my dad was emotionally absent and had his own problems with depression, my mom was working so hard to keep our family standing. She's been working away in another country for 10 years. I couldn't take my life bec of her. So now I'm still alive and doing better.

I never knew things could get better. I never did. And every day I thank God for it. ❤️

Edit: ps, i wrote this post to tell people that things can get better. And things will get better. Hold on to whatever hope you can hold on to, no matter how small you think that hope is, hold on to it, and tightly. Take that hope and plant it in your soul, then water it by being kind to yourself. And because it gets hard to do that, and most days it feels like you don't even have the water to water the seed, find others who can water that seed for you. Open up to a person you trust, a friend or a family member, (but yea i know that's hard too) but most importantly, seek a therapist. Trust me, there are people out there who are willing to water your seed for you in the moments you need it most, and there are people out there who are glad that you exist and are alive. You can get through this. You. Can. And. You. Will.

The fact that I see most of these people justifying a 22 year old dating a minor is beyond me. Just because you say it’s legal in most places does not make it okay! As an adult we’re responsible for protecting the young!

Y’all trying to defend a 22 year old man for dating a 16 year old girl because it’s “legal” guess what? Legality does not equal morality, and what is right and wrong. Just because it’s legal doesn’t mean it’s right. Slavery was legal, does that mean it was perfectly ok to do and wasn’t a bad thing? No, because like I said, just because it’s legal. Doesn’t mean it’s right.

It’s a terrible terrible thing that Paris, felt hopelessness in his life. That the only resource he felt was to take his life. But it is a good thing, that he didn’t want to hurt the young lady also.
