These plugins speak to me on so many levels - as an old time banjo player with an obsession with bizarre reverb and delays, dabbling in synth wave, industrial and metal... this $h!t's right up my alley. Nothing better to bring in life after the big Quarantine than a dumpster fire of my own choosing. Thanks for the recommendation, love the content!

Its interesting about the free vs stolen aspect of the dumpster fire plug. I think most people will do the right thing, I hope so. The developer needs to live!

Great video and i love DumpsterFire. I would also suggest Thermal and Portal by Output. BOTH of those plugins have inspired me to write such strange stuff lately because it transforms sounds so strangely. I've been having great results and making neat music as of lately

I just downloaded a couple freakshow plugins two days ago after seeing them pop up in random Reddit searches. Haven’t messed with them much but seem interesting

Oh, I do "dumpster fire" manually in Audacity. You pitch shift your audio, layer it with a copy of your audio that's pitched in the opposite direction but with its phase screwed up. I often just stereo-swap the LR sides, but sometimes I'll do more subtle phase changes. Sometimes I'll cut some samples from the beginning of the L or R of one or both copies of my pitch-shifted audio.

Then when you layer the 2, you end up with the phase interference pattern of the 2 pitch shifted copies. I'm OCD about doing this, so I'm glad there's a plug-in. Most of the time it sounds like crap, so it's helpful to use musical intervals for the pitch shifting, even when there's glide involved. Even then, it's really hit or miss.

The "chunkiness and rounding of transients" happens from the pitching downward. The hiss happens almost always with this process. I haven't found a way around that. Still looking for that solution.

awesome video gabe! synplant seems really cool to dive deeper into, but im not sure theres a lot to make a full video on - going thru the list of dna parameters might get a bit boring lol. great walkthrough, i definitely want to check out those freakshow plugins now!

I see that you use Reaper DAW. Is this your preferred DAW, I thinking of using, is it worthwhile. By the way, yours is one of the most useful and informative tubes along with freebeat.

Just so you know, I think you're using "enharmonic" to mean "atonal", great video though!
