Why SpaceX hire only Americans?

Elon Musk owns a number of successful businesses. Among them, SpaceX and Tesla are the most well-known companies. However, SpaceX does not employ non-US citizens.
Because the US government's (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) ITAR law classifies everything related to rockets as military-grade weapon technology and state secrets, SpaceX only hires Americans. This law makes it illegal for SpaceX to share its technology with anyone who is not a US citizen. It is for this reason that SpaceX only hires Americans.
This law considers every part of a rocket, including the wiring, to be military weapon technology. Furthermore, SpaceX cannot share its technologies with a non-US citizen or person. Even if you are a US citizen with dual citizenship, you may be unable to get a job at SpaceX if you are from China, Iran, or Russia. These ITAR laws are stringent.

Technically, a US green card holder can apply for a SpaceX job.

To be fair, thats a very good reason. You wouldn’t want your enemies getting their hands on cutting edge rocketry. Espionage is a very real and very dangerous threat to national security.

ITAR doesn't make it illegal to share military technology, rather it requires you to gain prior approval from the state department before doing so.
