Couldn't get on to watch until lunchtime, but the Lightning meet at Tom's was EPIC. Thanks again Tom for hosting this, and letting the two Ohio guys attend!

While I agree that Tesla's connecter is better than CCS connector, the connector is really not the issue. My belief is that it has more to do with Tesla's maintenance/Monitoring of the chargers that's' really separates Tesla charging experience from all the other chargers. It might be nice to do a deep dive on there approach...

This show is the ideal length to have on in the background while cleaning a O/U shotgun. State trap championships tomorrow. Trap isn’t the boy’s favorite discipline but he can’t blame a bad day on a dirty gun! Driving there in a Model 3, probably the only EV that will be there. Kyle should bring his off-road Rivian, it’d be a sensation! 1:23:04

Kyle - I just bought it instead of returning it. Tell me you have money without telling me you have money.

Best buy a Hummer too if you're collecting rare cars

GM Authority reported GM manufactured almost 3k Lyriqs in January. Factory Zero, which makes Hummer EV, was shut down to prepare for Silverado/Sierra EV production.

Just by simply switching to NACS will not solve the dismal reliability of the other charging providers. EA, ChargePoint, EVgo, …… will continue to disappoint in the future. A condition to participate in the IRA program needs to be showing they can deliver the required level of service NOW (not in the future).

Licensing fees of NACS are nil. Where there will be fees is probably in getting software support for using the Tesla network. Also, fees for software used in other charging providers charging products.

This whole NACS adoption is going to be a saga. There are so many unknowns at this point, and it will be interesting to see how it turns out 10 years from now. I also agree that NLCS will not be adopted across the world because there is no need to Have a compatibility in different geographic regions if something works, well, stick with it.

I'll happily take faster and faster charging up until we reach the ability to get 300+ miles of range in 5 minutes of charging. Similarly, I like bigger and bigger batteries largely in part to how much energy they would provide to my home in an emergency. Ideally though battery tech will get cheaper and I'll just have a huge battery bank for the house.

My frustration of the week is: I'm all in on the potential of the Rivian R2S, but there's a major problem. Rivian has nearly no service centers anywhere. Buying a Rivian isn't even a practical option until they triple the number of service centers. My nearest one is 3.5+ hours away.

Kyle has been ranting for months about the Golden age of evs is over due to the over crowding of chargers.
Now he doesn't want the 5 billion for installing more chargers . Stating they are "crap"
The IRA money has not been used yet to install any chargers. So how can they be crap.
Installers using government money will require a high percentage of time being up and running

So I get the fact that Tesla had unbelievable foresight, and that the SC network is an awesome business for them going forward. However, it is NOT just legacy auto that missed the boat on this or that has a bloody nose. What about those gas stations? The Shells, the BP’s etc??? Are they going to be relegated to just selling snacks and Big sodas? Legacy auto can still make cars - what are the gasoline companies going to do down the line if they do not make the transition to charging? I can totally understand legacy auto saying they don’t want to be the gas stations. Tesla literally had no choice, or they would not have sold any cars. To some extent they were brilliant of necessity.

I disagree with Kyle 350kW is more than enough for the majority, not every car is hauling around a massive weight of battery under it that needs to charge in 5min because fossil drivers think it takes them that long to fill up their car when it really doesn't unless they are peeing in an empty wine bottle as they drive down the road. Good ole Hy-Un-Dai. Will be interesting in 100yrs what the charging standard actually is as we'll all be gone by then it'll be our children and grandchildren involved in these decisions. Not a standard until it's approved by a standards body sorry Kyle.

Martin, FSD is not legal at all. But it's up to the government to decide to do something about it, and they haven't done so. Elon is thumbing its nose at our regulators.

Other AV developers saw fit to get legislation adopted in individual states to allow AV testing and development and with those laws came rules. Tesla just said eff it. We'll be disruptive and make all Teslas beta testers. It's insane that the government hasn't intervened.
