Cameron discusses the problem of consumer citizenship and how our values can, and should, influence the market place.

Cameron Tonkinwise's research and professional activities integrate the philosophy of design with a concern for sustainability. His work focuses on the design of commercial and nonmarket systems for shared product use, exploring how the emerging discipline of service design might facilitate the development of less-material-dependent economies. In his current research, Mr. Tonkinwise is investigating perceptions of convenience and autonomy in shifts from ownership to usership.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

Interesting. Not unlike Cameron, I seem to have a difficult time explaining what I would actually prefer to have conversations about ... and that seems to me to be because: 1. people have their own issues they're struggling with, and they simply don't grasp how talking about consciousness could possibly help them with their issues, and 2. I seem to be also talking about "shadows", and haven't yet made them "concrete" enough to matter to others. Thank you for delivering this talk!
