I apologize for being a few days late—I landed a pretty nasty case of strep throat and was a few days out of commission. My voice isn't quite back to 100% so that's why I sound a little funny.

Have a very merry Christmas, and you'll see at least 1 more video before the new year!

Watching this video on 4K on my Teclast X98 Air II with no problems. I can run all steam games, minecraft, half life 2, need for speed, 3dmark, any 3d application, with no freezes at all. I think you have bad unit, with faulty soc. This is common, try to claim it. Also check my video how to increase eMMC disk speeds. And good that I did not try to bend it 😊

Minecraft for windows is not unsophisticated at all in fact it's pretty hungry.

I almost bought this here in 2020 cause I wanted something for light gaming spore/wow but instead I went with the chuwi hi10x with some more newer components. Snazzy if you ever see this I think the chuwi hi10 x would be a great tablet 2 in 1 to review and share with others. For the $269 I spent I got the chuwi hi10 x that has a quad-core Gemini lake 2.4ghz 6gb of ddr4 128gb ssd intel hd600 graphics and it included the magnetic keyboard and a pen that works really well. It was the best bang for a buck that could still somewhat game but yet very mobile.

Darn, sorry to hear about your sickness (I caught something and was feeling bad the first day of finals last week, so must be something going around) Anyway, glad your feeling better, A+ review, Merry Christmas, and don't forget to stay snazzy yourself :P

I would love to get this but I just want to know how it lasts over time, can you do a follow up review in a few months?

Sorry, 0:02 "It has a UHD display."
It actually has a QXGA (2048x1536 ~3MP) display, UHD-1 is 3840x2160 (~8MP).
Kind of a big deal since were talking 4:3 versus 16:9 and a difference between 5MP between them. If you're watching 16:9 (let alone 2.39:1 content) on a 4:3 aspect ratio you would only use 3/4th of the screen (about 7.2"). Also, not to mention virtually all UHD-1 panels in around that form factor (sub-10") have been prototypes or extremely limited production (not used in any commercially available product).
I'm kind of surprised you would have a mess up like this since your video seems pretty professional, and you even went to the control panel and showed it's maximum reported resolution ( at 1:51 ).

For anyone that stuck around and read this comment, currently for a media orientated tablet in this form factor a Samsung Tab S 8.4 or 10.1, or Note Pro 12.2 is pretty much as good as it gets. They all use a 16:10 aspect ratio for 2560x1600 and have very excellent OLED displays great contrast/black levels/motion clarity which simply beats basically everything in terms of picture quality.
The Surface Pro 3 is good if you need full windows and a better display than the SP1/2, but it's not the best for media.

P.S.
The smallest size of UHD-1 panels I'm aware of that's commercially available is 15.6". SHARP and Samsung both have one, they are being used in some laptops more targeted towards professionals--the SHARP panel should be significantly better, the Samsung one has some issues with yellow and refresh rates over 48Hz.

Let me tell you a little bit about the Lynx 7 tablet I bought. It is a Chinese 7 inch Windows 8.1 tablet. It never crushed on me. Battery is not great, but enough. It doesn't crush when gaming, but there isn't really enough power there to run anything other than the simplest platformers. And Heroes of Might and Magic 3, which is nice.
The tablet does very well what i expected it to do, actually it does better than I thought it would.
Another surprise was that Internet Explorer is running faster than Chrome or Firefox.
As a final point, it might not run games, but i was able to use Stream streaming from my PC to my living room, so I could play Counter Strike on my TV in the living room using a 100 dolars/euros tablet.
Now I rarely use the iPad, since I can do more on a device that costs less than one third the money.

The fact that it still works with a cracked screen is a plus; lots won't work with a cracked screen.

I have the Dell Venue 8 Pro, which I believe has the same SoC as this.  The reason you are getting kernel panics is that you are running out of RAM, Minecraft doesn't use a lot of CPU, but it does like to eat RAM.  By contrast, it can play Plants vs. Zombies, Civ IV (but not V or BE), or pretty much any game built with DirectX9 like the Command and Conquer series.
