I write books the old fashion way. One sentence at a time. Just published "How To Change Your Life In 30 Minutes or Less." It took 6 months

Tried to write a novel this way. Each scene is amazingly well written, but due to token limitations, there is no continuity between scenes. For example, objects picked up by a character in Chapter 1, scene 4 will never appear again in the rest of the book. People who died in chapter 6 appear alive again in chapter 8. The passage of time between events is also difficult to control. For example, in one of my chapters, a character will leave his home to participate in that evening's village festival, however by the time he arrives in the center of the village three days have passed. You can control all of this in pre-planning, but it's not a 5-hour exercise, it's an excruciating multi-week process of pre-planning, planning, outline building, beta-reading, and copy editing. I think next time I try this, I'll have to include location, inventory, and date-time stamps in my outlines.

I’ve actually been writing a fictional book with ChatGPT and it’s getting quite interesting. There are some interesting issues arising and it will need to be edited to make complete sense but mostly the ai is very responsive with changing things. It really kind of cool because I can come up with broad ideas or little twists and tell it to add it in… the original product is not so good but the more you tell it to change things the better and better it gets… I kept working on it for hours it was intriguing… what surprises me the most is how well it does humor. It did kind of irritate me once when I wanted to add a part to the story where the teacher was bitter about women because his woman left him and he was letting it show inappropriately…. The ai would have no part in this even though I tried to do it in multiple ways. It started talking to me about sensitivity blah blah blah lol… it also kept trying to tie up conflict too quickly… kept wanting to make the characters resolve their issues too quickly but with some talking to it changed it… very cool
