Pittsburgh Swedish Style Pipe Wrench Review

These are the other popular style of pipe wrench although the Stillson type is the most widely used. these have their advantages in getting into tighter places and can be used and a general set of pliers but they are just not as tough and heavy-duty as a Stillson/Ridgid type of the same handle length and you have to grip on both handles like pliers to use these where the Stillson can be used one handed.

Once the swedish style is locked on you don’t need to squeeze the adjustable side as long as tension is applied

I bought these about 9 months ago and I absolutely love them. I used them doing some front-end work on my 2nd Generation Dakota and they definitely got the job done. If I used them every day I would be inclined to buy the Bahco or Knipex, but these work fine for how often I used them.

I mainly use pipe wrenches for working on natural gas lines as they're usually threaded and have larger pipe sizes. OG style pipe wrenches are some of my favorite tools because you don't have to pinch down as you turn

I have the bahco made snap on branded model, and they’re awesome. They’re weird to get used to but they they adjust so easily.

I do think the knipex mechanism would be more convenient to use. But I have never used a pair.

Hello again Catus Maximus and Tiny
Thank you for another Great Video. I can see the Swedish pliers working in certain situations. But I go with the pipe wrench for almost everything. Again thank you

Two hands? Only for the adjustment. Swedish style is much much more widely used here in Northern Europe. The advantage with the pliers type is better grip for round objects.

They seem like they would get a better purchase/bite on the fastner or pipe

I use my German pipe Cobra pliers more than my traditional Ridgid pipe wrenches

Once the set nut is applied, you no longer have to apply pressure to the front handle that's the detail that doesn't make them pliers

Intersting tool, but I'll stick with the traditional pipe wrench.

Two hands? what? The Swedish style one is amazing for any kind of weird stuff you have to grab every mechanic should have a pair or 2. 11inch is mint and idk how you could use them with two hands lol

You need some training on using the Swedish pipe wrench!

The Pittsburgh are crap. I have the Bahco 1420 at work that I use for alignments and other things that have weird shapes that a combination wrench or socket will not fit. One guy on YouTube calls them angry pliers and they will remove just about anything. If I have to remove a plumbing pipe I will use a pipe wrench and not the Bahco. Bahco is a Snap-on company without the Snap-on price.
