I remember when this song first released. Generally speaking, I'm not a fan of love songs. There are some I can vibe with because of the notes or the rhythm, some of them even have pretty solid lyrics, but the majority of love songs are generic. Clearly written by people who experience, but do not understand it and its facets. This? This is my favorite song you've written.

When you really, deeply, romantically care for someone that is a complex and multi-layered feeling. You can't write a song encompassing all of love and have it mean anything other than "I love you". This is a song about wanting to share your world with someone, your life. About loving the journey you spend with them, with no regard to where that journey leads or how it ends. A single piece of what it's like to be in love. It's allegorical, it's fantastic musically, and above all it is beautiful.

The more traditional take on this song feels just as adventurous, but has a bit of homeliness in it too, like it's a happy ending.
