Join me with Sophia Eng, author of The Nourishing Asian Kitchen, and creator of @sprinklewithsoil as we discuss her journey into homesteading, motherhood, homeschooling, blogging and becoming a cookbook author.

No doubt you’ve heard of the Nourishing Traditions cookbook by Sally Fallon. Sophia took her inspiration from there and recreated over 100 traditional Asian recipes that had been passed down for generations in her family. But instead of using processed ingredients, she used only real whole foods.

Thank you for having me on your Pioneering Today podcast, Melissa! It's not often that I can talk about nourishing food AND soil health in the same conversation. I hope your listeners enjoy our fun episode, and I hope you are feeling better!

This made me cry. I would love to be part of a small community that is cooperating in growing nourishing food. My husband and I are too old to go into homesteading now. However, in our tiny yard, I have 3 raised beds and a greenstalk. I have had little success in growing in the raised beds (not sure why) but have been able to raise a few herbs there. In the greenstalk, I've had some success in growing kale, swiss chard and some salad greens. I'm grateful for each thing that grows. I just loved this episode.

I thouroughly enjoyed this podcast! I loved Sophia Eng's passion and found it contagious. As a native So. Californian, but now in CO, I always find myself drawn to other Californians. I know CA gets a bad rap (rightfully so), but it also seems to breed independent thinkers. My parents are from Mexico, and our family loves other ethnic foods as well. I can't wait to get this cookbook!

I have been craving something for days but couldn’t figure out what. As you talked about home made healing nourishing soup like pho, I realized I was craving for miso soup with egg. Now I’m enjoying it as I listen. It tasted delicious! Thank you!

I am curious how you substitute the SOY products in recipes:
Does cookbook include Worcestershire recipe?

💜thx for education, ladies!
-on daikon radish (soil AND people)
-pronunciation of pho (fuh)
