Nice review. I have both sets, and like you, I find that the M2s is a bit muffled (actually more than a bit). I wish they would have created the M2s with the same audio tone as the M2. The only way the M2s works for me is when I do some EQ afterwards, and add a little upper end sizzle. I have a feeling they will update the M2s or come up with a new version that has better audio quality. I think sometimes the creators of wireless mic sets are so determined to sound "broadcasty" that they end up producing a mic with too much bass, too little treble, and sounding muddy (overcompensating). Otherwise I love everything else about the M2s.

I changed the volume by accident on the Lark M2 so many times and ruined my whole recording haha. After awhile you MAKE sure it will never happen gain hahaha

Following up. There is new firmware in Mid Feb. It only shows when you launch the app and doesn't appear on their website. It improves clarity etc. FWIW the M2 got an update too...

Please recheck because your mic on your shirt is difference area that may make sound quality and style is difference?

Thanks for the review. I think it will be a game-changer in certain situations. I shoot a lot of real estate agents. The more minimal setup, especially for ladies, the better. A basic EQ can add some high-end clarity. In saying all that, I have seen most new reviews of it, and yours sounded more muffled than any other for some reason?

This was probably the most honest review of the holy landmark. M2s that I've seen. the main reason why small YouTubers are getting more views than the larger ones now because they're just too sponsored and they're just pushing products that don't even need to be pushed. I think it's ridiculous all the hype that the other bigger YouTubers gave that microphone. I could see right away that there was a problem with it. I would recommend that you take it back and get your money back because unless they do a major firmware update, it's not as good as the first generation. I find that to be horrible. Who makes a microphone worse than their first generation? This is the definition of form over function. On one hand they made it look a little different. They made the case little better but when it comes to microphones it's the microphone quality and the range on a wireless microphone. That is the most important and I think they forgot. That's why the holy landmark M2 was so popular is because of the quality and then the size came in second but it was mainly because of the quality and you got a pretty decent microphone for the price. They're charging more money for this version. I personally don't like the way it clips onto the shirt. It only mounts in one way so even though it it looks a little bit more discreet. I don't like the design myself. I would not buy that microphone. The other thing that they could have done was because they've actually made it bigger cuz it's on both sides is why didn't those guys put a MicroSD card on the inside so that you could have internal recording without having to hook the microphone up to a computer? Theycould have put a SD card in there. They could have also added 32-bit float to the microphone as well. These would have been real upgrades would have been something that people would have paid extra for. This was just a cosmetic redesign with worse internals. Maybe they cheaped out on some of the components or maybe because they thought that microphone needed to be so tiny on the outside. You're going to sacrifice sound quality. I think that this microphone system was a big flop why don't they listen to people when they leave comments about their microphone systems? Why don't they listen to YouTubers such as yourself and how to improve their assistance?. I wonder if you agree with me. I would have put a MicroSD card on the inside for internal recording. I would have added 32-bit float. I would have kept the range either the same or better and I also would have made them interconnectable so same problem that they're having with the DJI mic mini and the DJI Mike too. Why are they not interchangeable? Why couldn't you use the holyland Lark m2s with the holyland Lark M2 receiver or vice versa? Why not does not? Doesn't anybody understand the whole idea of an audio ecosystem?. Anyway, sorry for rambling on great review. Very thorough. Very honest. I would definitely share this video with others because it is an entirely different outcome than what everybody else is talking about.

Thanks and the M2S design is great but sound it bit too muffled as also mentioned by you. Wish the company would also offer a bluetooth mic solution like the dji mic mini

Love the design of the M2S but there was a marked difference in the audio. I am not sure that it would be that noticeable if not doing a comparison. As a travel YouTuber I use DJI and almost lost one on a hike, I hate all of the clips and magnets.

Yea it sounded like the noise cancellation feature was on...that's strange. I see other videos and does not seem to be like that. I was hoping u would compare it with the DJI mic mini when u had on your shirt during the outdoor test.

I heard the with the Hollyland Lark M2S, I can charge my iPhone while using the mic, can I do that with the Dji mini or the Lark M2 ?

I’m curious because I was recently gifted the lark m2 but I like the appeal of the m2s clip since I’m afraid I might accidentally bump the lark m2 magnet and lose it 😢 but from what I see they sound the same 😅
