This is in Chamonix, from the train station to Mer de glace. It is 7 km horizontally and 900m vertically, then a bit more to get to the actual glacier. Used to run this weekly when I lived there. Missing it.

Impossible to find a single shoe meeting all your requests: asphalt eats any decent trail running sole (specially speedcross tendon). You need at least one for asphalt and another for trail running. I respet Salomon XT wings the most polyvalent (S-Lab XT 5 for race day only, as last much shorter), but Asics trail sensor of gel fuji Trabuco are my best, Mizuno + Brooks other to consider. For rope climbing you need a very different approach shoe such as Scarpa, La Sportiva, Mammuth, Salewa.

Kilian has a unique running style suited to this type of running. It seems as if he has shock absorbers in his legs and knees for the downhills and pistons for the uphills.
