Step 1. Hook up a bunch of remote expression knobs to long cables and plug them in all over your pedal board.
Step 2. Hand them out to people in the front row at your gig.
Step 3. Let battle commence.

If you wanted to get really fancy you could tap off/filter the expression signals and use them to drive some of those RGB LED tower-style lamps placed around the stage, for visual feedback as the people twiddled your knobs.

That is perfectly useful if you are doing a stage setup and use and extension cable to stick that control knob in fast and easy reach when a person may be already surrounded by gear and needs to be able to tweak just that one thing without accidentally grabbing the wrong knob and screwing things up in the middle of playing.
