Pangolin | The Most Poached Animal on Earth

This intriguing creature is the
most trafficked animal on earth.

This is the Pangolin.

The pangolin is the only mammal with scales,
Which are made from keratin,
The same protein that gives us our hair and nails.

It wears them like some sort of armor.

When threatened,
the pangolin's remarkable defense mechanism comes into play.

It curls up into a tight, ball-like shape,
allowing its tough scales to protect it from predators.

As expert insectivores,
pangolins feast on ants and termites using their long, sticky tongue,
which can extend up to a remarkable 16 inches

Tragically, pangolins face severe threats
from illegal poaching and trafficking
due to the demand for their scales and meat.

Their scales in particular can fetch
up to 3,000 dollars per kilogram
in the black market.

I saw a video about poachers a while ago and saw a comment about having our (U.S.) Veterans, ones that have trouble readjusting back to society, protect animals from extinction and I thought that was a beautiful idea.
