Archaeological Site of Delphi in Greece

Located on the southwestern slope of Mount Parnassus, Delphi is one of the most famous archaeological sites in Greece. It was once considered the center of the world in ancient Greek mythology and was dedicated to the god Apollo.

Delphi was primarily known for its oracle and its priestess known as the Pythia, who was believed to have the ability to communicate with Apollo and provide prophecies and guidance to those who sought her counsel.

Even though it is fenced off, if you wanna avoid paying the tickets to get in, all you gotta do is climb up the north slope of Parnassus!

You'll also be able to see the mountaintop sanctuary to pan!

This place is on my bucket list! And, no, it isn't handicapped accessible! Lots of stairs at all of the ancient places! Back then, the infirm and elderly were helped by those around them. If you couldn't walk up the stairs under your own power, younger, stronger men would carry you up and back down and not ask for payment unless it was a donation on their behalf to their favorite God or goddess. The elderly were revered for their wisdom and the infirm were seen as being touched by the gods so, helping them was an act of karma or a good deed that could be seen in their favor when they died and would help determine where they would spend the afterlife.

When you read the history of ancient countries and their military endeavors and you see them currently and they are essentially barren because that country has existed so long that all its resources has been used up and it’s visible in the fact that there are no trees on green mountains, if they still have green mountains, those mountains that were deemed non resource worthy, for now.
