Lobbyist gifts to the Senate are now banned, and gifts to the house must be under 50 dollars. But countless state legislatures have very lax rules. That's why this organization is backing initiatives like South Dakota Amendment W, Clean Missouri and countless proposals at the city and local levels. You should get active too and support anti - corruption measures in your town, because that's how the war against powerful interests will begin.

Which is exactly why we the people need to make sure our representatives know that lobbying and election reform is the highest priority. None of our other problems can be properly fixed so long as the political machine itself is broken. Politicians and MSM conspire to keep the populace distracted / entertained with drama, so we'll forget about the fundamental issue of corruption. We have to keep the pressure up; let them know we demand progress.

Originally, when the pubic had concerns (jobs, infrustructure, etc.) they wanted addressed they'd send someone to meet with the elected offical. The group's messenger was simply an average citizen that would sit in the lobby (hence the term "Lobbyist") & wait for a chance just to voice the issue & have it considered. Then some started coming with money... o_0 ...so now most lobbyist are professional "pitchmen" representing small special interest groups rather than the larger public.

In Brussel there are 10000 Lobyists(allmost as much as in Wahington). Additionally there are many thousand Lobbyist in every Capital.

The German CDU just got a 1 million-euro gift from BMW in the last days to prevent an EU Law, which would cost BMW much money.
