I can see this device being extremely useful to older people who have a hard time navigating through smart phones as well as children under 10

- so what does it do?
- it’s like your phone but it does less

The whole selling point of the device is being able to interact with your apps. Why on earth did they only try one command that could be easily achieved by voice assistants already, and two which doesn't involve any apps.

So you have early access to a new device with an advanced AI that can control any existing app and the first thing you ask the age of Brad Pitt or play a song. Great, very useful.

I think I'll judge this device on something a bit more comprehensive than the 90 seconds provided here.

The video is edited with a cut after every question, in this way is impossible to tell the accurate response time, that is a crucial information for these kind of devices.

As someone who wants to spend less time on my phone and reduce screen time, I think this could be a great solution. It requires you to access information with intent, as opposed to doom scrolling and becoming easily addicted to visuals in applications. It's a great tech solution for those who want to be more present in their lives. My only question is about GPS capability whether it will allow you to use Google maps.

I won’t spend $199 on this but I could spend $1999 their shares

I cannot see this thing taking off personally. Not when people already have phones in their pockets. This is not meant to replace your phone, it is an assistant. I think that once the novelty of a new device wears off these things will do nothing but collect dust. One big factor is that all of the hard work is being done on the servers in the backend anyways. So as you might expect Google, Apple and Amazon are all probably well aware of what this thing is and is potentially capable of... and get this, they will update their Siri, Alexa and Homes to do the same thing. It's not even far fetched, i bet within 6 months this thing will be overshadowed by the bigger companies. I would probably bet they would have something in testing prior to the actual release date of this thing (march-ish timeframe from what i heard)

Looks like a nice gift that you can give to a curious child

I appreciate your effort in sharing your thoughts on the R1. In the future, it might be helpful to conduct more thorough research and testing before creating a video. This could provide a more comprehensive understanding of the product's capabilities. I understand the excitement of sharing content quickly, but taking the time to explore the R1's features could offer a more insightful perspective for viewers. This video felt like a waste of time to me. Constructive feedback can help improve the quality of the content. I believe the R1 has potential, and I'm looking forward to seeing more comprehensive reviews in the future. However, this video seemed like you tried to make a video without spending more than a few minutes on it - this is a waste of time for me personally. I would show better use case scenarios rather than asking silly questions to the device - this video makes the R1 seem like a useless kids toy, but I know it's much more than that. It would have also been way more interesting if you also did an unboxing of the product in addition to this.

Imagine a folding phone that has rabbit R1 like features when closed, but opens up to a full smartphone.

That has to be the worst first impressions ever made.

everything this device can do can be done with a siri shortcut, you can even make one to speak to chatgpt. (I dont know how it works on android but its probably something similar) And the fact that it is voice ONLY means that when you just want to search something you are going to be spending ages for it to understand your request

It's not a smartphone replacement...it's literally a new class of electronic device..AI companions will have their own market n future integrations with tools like sora are gonna be mind blowing

CNET doing this thing a disservice by only talking about voice assistance.

This is actually a really cool device that is way more than just an AI assistant, but for some recent CNET failed to show that. It can connect to your smartphone at home and perform actions with your apps, as well as allow you to teach it new actions by just showing it a screen recording. It's kinda like if you had an intern at home that's actually doing the things on your phone or computer that you ask it to.

To everyone talking about how it can do less and doesnt have apps:
I read through their mission a while ago and it seems kind of cool. Its all about how we get consumed by the complexity of apps and what we can do, from binging reels to playing mobile games. They wanted to simplify things so we start using it more rationally instead of being the victim of algorithms designed to consume us.

I bet within a few weeks/months there will be an App for my Android phone that will do that and more.
