Vadodara’s Sev Usal recipe is famous all over the world and we would like to bring you the same authentic taste to your. This Sev Usal is prepared with dried green peas and some spicy and aromatic ingredients. The speciality of this Sev Usal recipe is the Tari that is prepared using lots of garlic and a tadka of red chilli powder.
In this Sev Usal video we have also shown the recipe for Sev Usal Tari. You can use this tari in various vegetables to spice up the taste. Sev Usal enjoyed some chopped onions, spring onions, lots of sev and topped with the Sev Usal Tari.

Recipe:

Ingredients –
250 Grams Boiled Dried Green Peas
Puree of 2 Tomatoes
3 Chopped Onions
2 Teaspoon Crushed Green Chillies
3 Teaspoon Ginger Garlic Paste
½ Teaspoon Turmeric Powder
2 Teaspoon Red Chilli Powder
1 Teaspoon Dal Shaak Masala
1 Teaspoon Dhana Jeera Powder
Salt
Oil
Water
For Sev Usal Tari:
25-30 Garlic Cloves
4-5 Green Chillies
½ Inch Ginger
Salt
2 Teaspoon Red Chilli Powder

Method –
1. Heat oil and add chopped onions and stir till they turn golden brown.
2. Add crushed green chillies, ginger garlic paste, tomato puree and mix well.
3. Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, dal shaak masala and dhana jeera powder.
4. Add Green Vatana and mix well with the spices.
5. Add salt and water as per requirement and cook for 3-5 minutes.
6. For the tari grind garlic, green chillies, ginger and salt.
7. Now for the tadka for tari, heat oil and add red chilli powder.
8. Add this tadka to the tari and our sev usal tari is ready.
9. Serve the Sev Usal in a bowl; add some chopped onions, spring onions, sev and sev usal tari.
10. Serve it with Pav and a slice of lemon.

I am from uttar Pradesh. When I joined job in Baroda, many Gujarati talked about sev usal. When I saw I shocked how people can eat pav with juice. One day I had nothing to eat then I eat 1st time at vrindavan char Rasta. It was so delicious 😋 and taste created a memory. After that I eat sev usal regularly. I left Baroda but I miss sev usal too much.

I'm married to a Gujarati. I've been trying to make Sev Usal which our Gujju friends taught me. I've tried many recipes. For some reason, their tari is always different compared to mine despite me following their instructions. Thank you so much for your wonderful recipe. The tari came out so well. And the whole sev usal is on point. I'm looking forward to learning from you more.

When I joined my job in #Vadodra, in 1973, the first time I hear the name #SEVUSAL and there was a MANORANJAN hotel near the mangal bazaar. Then it became my regular morning breakfast until my resident in Vadodra. The test is unforgettable. Next I tested in #Nandurbar, which was not as tasty as Vadodra, but it's OK!
