Working in air freight and considering the ridiculously sized cargo customers often think would fit into an aircraft, an A380F would have been pretty nice.

I was working at Heathrow upgrading taxiways to take A380s. I think the max take off weight is 500 tons and we had to consider an A380 20% bigger so needed to consider a 600 ton aircraft. The mind boggles that soemthing that weighs 600 tons can actually fly. And it wasn't just the weight to consider. A whole taxiway had to be moved to make allowance for minimum wing tip clearaces on two parallel taxiways.

The A380 is the world's biggest _AIRLINER!_
Today, after the Antonov AN-225 Mriya was destroyed by the Russians, the A-380 is the biggest plane in service.

The fact that these monstrosities can fly is just mind bending

If the A380-900 wasn't in the program, the wing would have been designed slightly smaller and more efficient for the -800, making it significantly more efficient and cheaper to operate. And, very likely, more appealing for more companies.
To me, the -900 was the main thing that killed the A380 much earlier than expected.

That's interesting. They tried to replicate the A330 and A340 story with the same wing span scenario. That's why the A330 became the butter machine !

Flew Dubai to London and back twice this year with the A380. She's a magnificent beast indeed.

I hate Airbus for discontinuing this beast of a plane although I sympathise with the need to save money.

It's hard to believe I saw this whole program come and go - but it was over a relatively short period of time.

A380 is the biggest COMMERCIAL plane but not the biggest. The Antonov An-225 Mriya was the biggest but now it is the
Scaled Composites Stratolaunch.

I-like-planes.

The A380 is the largest production passenger plane. The primary reason for it's downfall was the transition between hub and spoke being often used for long-haul as opposed to point-to-point flights.

Best plane I’ve ever flown on, by far.

Interest is returning a bit. Many are coming back out of storage. Saw something that Airbus is watching closely to that interest.

It’s a whale…but the 747-8F is a gorgeous piece of aircraft pulchritude!

With Airbus now having a tie in with Antonov I see potential in the A380 wing and control systems being utilised in the proposed new generation of Antonov super freighters.

I love booking a flight to find it's on an A380. Most of the airlines used the size to give slightly bigger seats and legroom, unlike the 787, which often has tiny seats.
