How to repair a white screen Asus VG278 monitor.
MOSET is location Q308 has shorted and cause the SMD fuse to blow. This is all on the LCD flex board (T-con built into the LCD flex).
The original mosfet is a part number 12H34
I replaced it with a AO3400 AO9T Specs: N-Channel, VDS 30V, ID 5.7 A Package SOT-23

No bullshit...no 20 minutes explaining the issue...just a quick "This is what happens...this is the fix" in short order...Jeff, keep up the good work!

I am envious of your ability to find and repair faults like this, with what appears to be no repair schematics. I aspire to learn to do this with my own stuff.

I am pretty good with a soldering iron, but the tiny SMD always give me trouble. Especially desoldering is tricky for me.
Watching your videos motivates me to practice more :)

Chalk another white screen fix courtesy of Jeff's video. Fuse was blown and Q308 was shorted Gate to Source. Replaced both components and the monitor is back to life! Much appreciated.

This literally just happened to my monitor of the exact same make/model. I'll be taking mine apart and diagnosing just as you did here. Thank you so much for this video. I just subscribed!

Batteries for the Dyson V6 vacuum cleaner frequently have BMS board problems. If you could make a video fixing the BMS board at the component level it would be a big winner!

Nicely done! A bit beyond my skill level of just replacing blown electrolytic caps.

Dear Jeff
Thanks for your generosity sharing your knowledge and experience with so many other folks like myself.
God bless you!
I have an ASUS VS24A with very similar problem - black screen, no logo, but when connected though a HDMI cable to a laptop, the computer recognizes the monitor, however no images are shown
ASUS has suggested me to take it to an authorized shop but the cost was higher than a new monitor in Brazil.
The problem started some 2 years ago when it went black and standby led was not turning on.
I checked the power suply and replaced some inflated capacitors, a Mosfet 70Amps etc
The standby light now turns on, backlight lamps are lit, etc but no images are formed
I cheched the voltages goint to the ribbon cables tha connects to the monitor circuitry and the voltages there are 1.3xx Volts not 12V
Without the schematicas (denied by ASUS) I have no clues as to what voltages should be supplied form the power supply board to the video card. There should be a 12V going through?
Could you please offer some help?
Thanks in advance and again congrats on the nice job

Thanks for making this video, dude! it's helped me to diagnose an LG 27GK750F-B that suffers from the same problem. They quoted me £230 for repair service but after removing said mosfet, all the shorts are gone! great stuff, man

Well done :-D, A handy monitor saved from the dumpster of :-D
Because so many fail, it makes me wonder if they selected an under rated mosfet on purpose.
I would be trying to bodge a much bigger mosfet in there or near.
I never liked the idea that transistors are supposed to be boiling, it's not a tube or valve.
Don't forget to get the cat to do a final inspection :-D
