What’s next for Congress’ assistance to small businesses in the wake of the pandemic recession? The Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) attempted to prevent a wave of small business bankruptcies during and after state lockdown orders. But PPP expired last month, and negotiations on the next round of small business support have stalled.
Recognizing the importance of small businesses, former Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz and more than 100 current and former CEOs sent a letter to Congress outlining the importance of continued fiscal support. Sen. Todd Young (R-IN) and Sen. Michael Bennet (D-CO) also introduced the Reviving the Economy Sustainably Towards a Recovery in Twenty-Twenty (RESTART) Act to offer small and medium businesses continued federal assistance.
Join Sen. Young, Sen. Bennet, Mr. Schultz, and AEI’s Michael Strain to discuss how the federal government can continue supporting this vital sector of the economy.
