I've used Wordpress - went back to designing my own websites from the ground up as I have total flexibility in anything I want to do. Wordpress is great for those that don't have the time or knowledge to create a site from the ground up but, speaking personally, I would rather design my own websites as it's more satisfying to know you created something yourself rather than patching something together made by multiple people and just adding a bit yourself. It all comes down to what you want in the end though and neither way is wrong.

I like seeing raw code and I like developing unique design; don't you think websites made by WordPress would be compiled of generic layouts?

Thanks for the Video. Was about to start with Dreamweaver. As it is bundled with my Adobe stuff. Hate that I have no control over this. My main this is Photoshop and Premiere. New how to use Dreamweaver in the past. When we where about and own it. But hearing you say you done DW for 10 years. Now Switched to Word Press. Has me about to look hard at WordPress. You have to give it to the name too. Dreamweaver is just a cool name. had a girl long time ago hit on me. When she say the book I was reading at a coffee shop. She thought it was some kind of Magic book or Dream book lol. When I told her what it was she walked away. My Nerdy Days LoL I ll check out your site as well!

There's a reason why I looked this up and found your video. I am at the same crossroad myself. I used Wordpress over 8 years ago for a blog. Now, I'm thinking of doing a website. Meanwhile, I've been relearning Dreamweaver. Like your points. Gave me a lot to think about and examine.

Wordpress is for beginners that are okay with cookie cutter, limited customization sites. If you're not experiences with it and CSS and PHP coding, you'll need to hire someone make it look professional and truly customizable to your needs.

Did this guy seriously suggest that you can no longer edit text files if you cancel, or otherwise lose access to Dreamweaver?

WordPress bites the wad if you want a WYSIWIG editor WHERE YOU CAN SEE EVERYTHING and you don't want to have to DIG THROUGH SOMEONE ELSE'S LAYERS OF SHIT TO FIND WHAT YOU WANT TO CHANGE. WordPress is a convoluted mess. In many instances, you're stuck with whatever the designer came up with unless you want to dig and sift through layers of files to find out where they have the side bar code, where they have the parent structure, don't get me started on child/parent themes. Who ever came up with that should be flogged in a public square. WordPress sucks. It just sucks. Unless you are content to entirely adhere to someone else's theme, whether you like it or not, it sucks. I used to do development on DW back in the '80's. I'm having to come back and do some development, again, and I am shocked at just how little web development has evolved. It's still back in the stone age. Where are the great minds who should have SO MANY OF THE PROBLEMS solved and intuitive by now? Gawd, get me a beer.

Because I feel that Wordpress is very limiting to my design. They all look similar. It’s like I want to build a sports car, but I’m given the body of a Jeep and I have to customize the Jeep. I actually miss dreamweaver but with the plugins of Wordpress it is outdated.

Wonderful presentation. Sounds so legit. Now if I could only figure out why my wordpress site looks all wacky on a mobile device.

Is this a bad joke? Dreamweaver is an editor... an editor you can use to make wordpress templates... This is like saying "Hammer vs Nail, Which one's best?"...
