Turning ugly wood into a beautiful bowl. In this new woodturning video I am turning an ugly piece of cherry into a beautiful rustic bowl. This has minor surface cracks and blemishes here and there. That is the character and beauty of it. I left a natural edge and I think that compliments the piece.
I hope you enjoy this new video!
Thanks for watching!

Good idea to use the sanding pad as a jam chuck to finish the bottom!

God makes a seed, the seed grows, and becomes a tree. Over time a branch falls, turns ugly, and is good for the fire pit....but is that all? Nice bowl Rus, haven't seen you do alot of these. I loved it, natural flaws and cracks, all of it what once was near worthless, is now beautiful to look at, with a purpose. That's what God did for me. Beautiful Rus thank you for another video loved it ..Dan

There is beauty in every piece of work. It can sometimes be hard to find, but you found it in that piece.

New to wood turning, so question: I thought keeping pith in the project could lead to cracking and movement? Pith is in both sides of this bowl (beautiful, by the way!) When is this acceptable and when is it not? I am building a stockpile of blanks for turning and cutting out the pith. But I have some small apple pieces I'd love to turn like this. Can you please explain? Much appreciated!
