My wife and I actually didnt even notice the shaky cam. We just assumed that it was a function of creating a claustrophobic vibe which worked for us. We really enjoyed it, and ill probably be watching it again. We need more movies like this by Indians!

For a debut film, it was a spectacular turnout. Yeah it’s another revenge film, yeah there’s too much shaky cam, but man there’s a lot of blood. Danny Boyle’s influence is felt in Dev’s directing style

Good review! Thanks for noting the shaky cam because it can be a deal breaker for some sensitive to motion sickness. Merantu is highly recommended if your a fan of the Raid movies. Storywise its quite effective for a action movie( cool scenes with heartfelt narrative).

Realistically, I love how it's not paced the same as every other film. It takes it's time to tell a story worth learning and ends with a bang. I think for all of the troubles that occurred during the filming, it's a rare gem. I don't want to know the girls backstory btw... The movie is about him, his growth, his mission, and how it unfolds. So I disagree with some points. But, we all view things differently. So, no argument here. Except for the shaky cam thing, as the movie progresses, it gets more steady. If you heard the commentary on it, Dev himself said it was intentional. There's a wonderful explanation as to why. But I'll leave that to you Sir. 😊

Spot on- exactly how I felt.. I also felt like they had some cool ideas with his sidekick friend and dog but just left them out of no where.. also was a bit confused with his mentor half way through- originally thought he was the same guy that was on the tv.. so I think maybe they could have made those two charecters a bit more different from each other..

Completely disagree, if character development is vital why was John Wick such a hit!!! I think think there's more than enough to go by in this movie & that woman represents the life of women in that world, the lifeless movement & the sadness in her eyes tells you everything.

just finished watching this movie ... there's a lot to work with and some appeal for me ... but! too much shaky cam, too many tight shots, problems with sequencing and editing, and it took the brutality and violence to a level of unbelievability ... 2 out 5 for me
