This just seems desperate at this point and the BC Liberals “United” should be shown as an example of exactly how not to try to rebrand yourself. They had some really interesting new and popular potential leaders and they chose the most old school true liberal they could, then changed the name like that would do it. I was so disappointed they chose Falcon when they had interesting candidates like Ellis Ross, who is now moved on and extremely popular btw. A name change means almost nothing, people actually do pay attention to the people leading the party as well… As much as I can’t stand the NDP the Lib… ugh BC United kind of deserves their tailspin here.

The proposal will do very little for high to mid-income earners, and I'm sure they'll work it so that it costs us more, because they always discriminate on income levels and never apply taxation fairly for everyone. The proposal may help very low income earners, that's about it, meanwhile everyone else will continue to suffer under a heavy burden of taxation, while governments continue to spend as recklessly as possible.

As a single senior, my income is far less that $50K/year: I pay federal and provincial income tax throughout the year but get it all back because of the tax structure. In previous years when I got only part of it back, I was happy to pay something toward supporting my country and community, Levy taxes based on a means-test but don't disenfranchise a whole socio-economic sector and don't add in a potentially further polarizing formula into the already strained relations between the 'haves and have-nots'. The other side of the budget is spending: when is somebody going to get serious about responsible spending by governments at all levels and effective monitoring and accountability of same?
