Rod Stewart - Maggie May Guitar Lesson

Sign up for my GL365 Academy to finally understand the guitar, develop a great ear for music, pro level technique and much more! Personalized support from me!

In this Maggie May guitar lesson video, I will show how to play all of the chords to this Rod Stewart classic in addition to learning Ronnie Wood's two guitar solos note-for-note!

The tuning is standard tuning, E A D G B E.

For the rhythm guitar sections, I will be using a 12-string acoustic guitar like was used on the original recording. However, if you don't have a 12-string it will still sound fine on a 6 string guitar.

I will cover each section in the order that they appear on the original recording. This will include an "arrangement" of the mandolin section towards the end of the song.

I will also be grabbing my strat and demonstrating Ronnie Wood's instantly recognizable guitar solos.

Have fun learning this classic! Carl...

A timeless classic from 1971 four years before Carl was born :-) I was 12 years old when I first heard this song. Always liked it.

The MTV Unplugged version was the best to me and I’ve never seen anyone cover it. Great lesson.

A 12 string adventure, love it! Rendezvous with Carl some more in the GL365 Academy. There’s lots to explore and learn in there. And you’re not alone, besides the support of the Sensei, the community is also a good bunch of ppl. along for the ride. 😁

Cheers! Man i'm so sad lately. I started playing guitar 6 months ago, alone, by myself. I practiced every single days. My father played guitar his entire life and I wanted to show him for the first time where I was at. He visited me last week and I was like ''This is the time to impress him''. I had learned ''stairway to heaven'' which I knew he would like a lot.

So I told him to sit down, and enjoy the show. I started playing .... and ... I was missing every single cords. My hands were sweaty, I was shaking a little, and I literally couldn't play the first 5 chords of the song which I knew I was able to play very well.

I tried and tried, nothing to do, I couldn't do play at all. Am I alone having this?
