So glad u mentioned Molinari's deli on Columbus avenue. Been going there since the early 1960's. Best Italian cold cut section, and best sandwiches in the City imo! And omg, the incredible smell once you make it inside is just intoxicating!!!!

Nice. Thanks. Thinking of North Beach now makes me miss Beach Blanket Babylon. In my heart of hearts, I always hope that it will make a come back one day. A true San Francisco classic, and always a good time.

I love this neighborhood it's my homeland in a way, but I don't think of it as SF's little Italy. Yes it was heavily Italian and back in the 90s and it was much more Italian than now but it's also more than just an Italian neighborhood . It's just a thriving neighborhood with tons of history and a great music and art scene. First Fridays are worth it if you like poetry.

my wife and I came to SF from Illinois on our honeymoon in 2018. She had planned to spend a sunday at a cosmetics seminar on Jackson St. She asked if it was ok for me to kill 8 hours while she was there and I was like, "oh yeah, I've waited 30 years for this". I headed for Caffe Trieste and hung out for a while then across the street to Al's Attire (which has the last apartment of the late great Paul Kantner of Jefferson Airplane above it and it's tribute sign to him). Then I went to City Lights Bookstore and it was awesome to be in a place I'd read about since I was in college 30 years ago. I went to the Beat Museum and Vesuvio to bring the books and imaginations of my younger years to life. I walked past alot of the haunts where my favorite Vince Guaraldi played his jazz. It was probably one of the greatest days of my life. I live so far from these places that they seemed mythical, like alot of things we read or see on tv. I took my wife back to Caffe Trieste twice and we lived like locals. Best trip ever for me. Enjoyed this video and anything about North Beach. I'd been in SF in 2015 but was unable to come to that part of the city.

You should try Pizzele's in north beach. Every time my wife and I go to SF, we stop at Pizzele's to get their chicken parm combo. Best Parm, you'll ever have, I promise you and for under $15, you can't be that in the bay area as everything is expensive there.

"The Saloon" blues bar is my favorite North Beach location, which is across the street from Caffe Trieste. I've taken two of my doctoral students to both locations--coffee first at Caffe Trieste to talk, followed by excellent music at the Saloon until closing.

I love going to North Beach for food excursions! As a matter of fact, I need to go get some Molinari’s this weekend lol

Truthfully, I should grab some Tony’s as I haven’t been there yet (sad I know lol). But yea, North Beach is definitely on point with a great culinary scene & great people.

North Beach sounds like a great place to visit....when we are not in a global pandemic of course.

What, no mention ot Freddie's. The oldest sandwich shop in the city, it's been on Francisco and Stockton forever. I knew Fred, my mom knew Fred when she was a young girl, she was born in North Beach in 1923.
