BBQ Mint Julep with Scotch Whisky & Beer Syrup

The BBQ season is here so it’s only fitting to make a cocktail that would be the best BBQ cocktail you can have while grilling or eating BBQ food, so I made a BBQ Mint Julep with Scotch Whisky & Beer Syrup. It has all the tastes that can’t be missed at some BBQ party. Smoke, beer, roasted marshmallow, chocolate, strawberry and freshness of mint. It’s an event in a glass, or in a julep cup in this case.

A massive thank you to all our Patrons for their support, especially "Old Fashioned" patrons Julien Laucke and Johannes Haas, and “Negroni” patrons Cesar Garcia, Stefan Molitor, David McDermitt, Joerg Meyer and Nikola Bulajic!

Definitely mixology at this level is akin to being a world class pastry chef.

I would really love to see what a full cocktail menu built by you would end up looking like. You do a great job about being impartial but I'm also very curious as to what your bar preferences are!

I just love u Kevin, spent a day at Aberlour destillery in 2017, still got a bottle of 18yo. Great choice as always.

The IPA syrup was a great idea! My wife and I had some whiskey sours with it, and they turned out wonderful!
One piece of advice: as I was making the syrup, I was also squeezing lemons for the juice, so I decided to drop some lemon peels into the syrup... Be careful if you do this, as the end result may end up as a little unbalanced.
Cheers from Argentina!

Now this is an amazing twist on a classic drink that I love and is similar to my bbq old fashioned or scotch old fashioned that i like to make using ardberg or another smoked scotch whisky. 100% adding this to the summer menu in my bar and I will be making my own ipa syrup using a local swiss ipa i sell in the bar. Thanks so much for the inspiration Kevin

Aberlour 14 is my absolute favourite scotch. Generally have it neat, but this cocktail looks so good I might be persuaded to give it a go with some extras!

Hi kevin
Thank you for your awesome videos and that you share your huge amount of knowledge with us.
I‘m a choclatier and pastry chef thats why i know a lot about sugar😅.
When you want to disolve sugar into a liquid without overheating the liquid you just have to heat up the mixture of liquid and sugar to 40°C. This is the point where sugar starts to disolve perfectly into a liquid. I thought i share my knowledge here with you. Maybe one day you can use this method somewhere where you want to preserve the „uncooked“ fresh flavor of the liquid and be very accurate with the whole process.
