10 Best States for Affordable Rent.

Are you looking to lower your rent? Don't have money to buy real estate?

Housing costs vary from state to state, and rent prices across the United States are increasing as the economy gets back on its feet.
The U.S. rental market has seen an increase in the demand for apartment house rentals. Renting is often seen as more affordable than buying a home. Rent prices in major cities and metro areas around the U.S. are becoming increasingly expensive. That was until the COVID-19 pandemic hit. They sort of dropped a little and now are poised to start increasing again.
If you are looking to move for cheaper rent, this video might be a good start in your search.

Rented all my life - since 2012 the rents have DOUBLED in Oregon. 2012 minimum wage was $8.50. 2021 it's $12.00. That isn't DOUBLED.

Thanks, Briggs!! This made me realize just how blessed we are here in Missouri with a 2br, 1.5 bath for $840/month. 😊

Briggs, I enjoy your videos, but I take issue with one of your comments at the beginning of the video. It's not that Millennials and Gen Z "aren't into buying houses" and "would just rather rent" - it's that the combination of crushing student debt, a bad job market for young people, stagnating wages, and rising housing costs among other reasons have made saving up for a down payment and owning a home out of reach for many people in those generations.

... Haha, South Dakota, a state with a high percentage of fathers wanting DNA tests at delivery.

Thank you for making me appreciate what I have. With each new video I am more and more thankful I live in rural middle of nowhere WI.

Thank you Briggs! I live in Wisconsin outside of the Lake Geneva area. I pay $565.00 a month for a one bedroom. The only problem is, I'm on all electric for the apartment. Summer is OK, however, it does go up significantly in the winter.

Without watching the video, I can tell states like New York, New Jersey, Illinois, and California won’t be on this list.

Studies show millennials want houses but can’t afford them.

Californians moving to Oklahoma--that's a switch. In the 1930's it was the other direction.

A one bedroom in the San Francisco Bay Area starts at $1500! In San Francisco it’s almost twice this, that’s why people are leaving and going across the bay to Oakland. There’s places I don’t go in Oakland but when I was younger as a musician I played all over Oakland!

Martinsburg is more expensive than Charleston, WV due to Martinsburg being within commuting distance to DC and Baltimore.

I'm currently in the process of moving from Portland Maine to Indianapolis because of how much cheaper the rent is there. On average there a 2bdrm is anywhere from $650-$850 a month, in comparison to where I live only a ONE bed goes for around $1500-$2k a month.

excellent comments. the peoples voice. My first apaerment was across the street from the cathedaral in saint paul minnesota on summit avenue within a five minute walk of the james hill mansion and a few miles of amazing mansions on summit avenue and a couple blocks from downtown saint paul and the mississippi river and several bars and restaurants of local history significance. I worked ten minutes away by bicycle or walking. It was a one room with kitchen and bathroom. $325.00 a month. That was over 20 years ago. I now have a 4 bedroom 3 bath 100 by 100 foot lot house a block from the saint croix river that is 1100. a month and will be paid off in 4 years. the problem is that people cannot save for a down payment for a home loan. I was fortunate to get barack obamas first time home buyers $8000.00 grant and it was right after the mortgage colaps of the bush administration.
