Its time to get the boys with the big toys and harvest the maize.
I'm heading away for a week so its either now or when I get back its going to be to late, and I'm quite glad I did it because any drier would've been to much.
For such a dry year, we haven't had rain in almost 3 months its actually done really really well. Final figures came back at 22.8t/ha DM which is really good, I'm happy!

As an ex chopper driver i could relate to that driver, boots off and driving in socks❤ Always a nice touch to raise the flap horizontal at end of each truck load and prior to the empty truck coming under the shoot. Its the little things😂 Ten row head was cool.

Not sure how well you can plan this out but I would put the dryer fields on the bottom of the pit and seal it off with the wetter fields
If there is any juices leaking from the wet field the lower dryer lower layers will absorb it in addition the wetter would create a better seal on top
Good luck

Those machines always fascinate me, I could watch them all day. Those kiwi mornings bring back many happy memories and I can still sense the smell and feel of them after many years away in Australia. Thank you :)

Excellent glad it's all in and the fields are looking very clean afterwards.. 👌 your contractor does an excellent job 👏 👍🏻.. Have you ever tried sand bags instead of tyres? Or lay flat water hose filled with water? Bit cleaner and easier that handling all those tyres.. That was a job I didn't like when we did pit silage moons ago.. 😮😅.. stay safe 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Hello!! I really love your videos. I am a teen and very interested in agriculture. From the city too. If possible do you think you could explain what some of the concepts in your videos are and what you're entirely doing for somebody who doesn't know much but keen to learn and from the City. Thank you. Keep up the amazing work. Love your videos.

I’ve not seen a flat clamp like that before, but it looks effective

Looks like you need a bigger pit.
Councils went mad here and you basically can’t do anything in an industrial yard unless it’s on concrete. Guy I know got failed concrete panels for factory’s, he laid them out, concreted in between and filled in any door or window holes. Stood some up as walls/fence. Might be an option worth exploring. Concrete without paying full price for it.
