Hard for me to wrap my head around the fact that 5150 was released 35 years ago. Still probably my favorite album of all time. Where did the time

Eddies keyboard arrangements on love walks in is just simply as stellar and uniquely amazing as his guitar playing was. I loved that about him. Rip EVH

Great album. Sammy was the right person at the right time for Van Halen. Both DLR and Sammy's eras were awesome. Pretty tired of the bullshit arguments. Sammy is still making great music with The Circle and sadly DLR simply cannot sing anymore. Thanks for this upload.

Eddie's genius on full display here. This is pure gold for fans of the album. Even these "rough demos" are just light years beyond most of the trash being released today and called "music".

I was fortunate enough to see them in New Haven on the 5150 tour. Best concert I've ever been to. Amazing energy that night.

Listening to the 5150 album the first time was like being shot with adrenaline. I've never done coke but I can imagine that's what it was the musical equivalent of it is. It still has that effect to this day.

I think I like this more than the polished, finished version! Sammy's vocals have the bite of his live performance! Ed just has more of that genius up front. This is such a treat!

Aah, the soundtrack of my high school graduation and the explosion of newfound freedom - perhaps the best feeling one can experience after the love of your life and the birth of your own children! I was blown away at the "newness" of this album amidst the fare of the day and how different from OG VH it was. "Eat 'em and Smile" also was bigger than the sum of its parts. Ed & Dave both took with them the unique ingredients they possessed that, when mixed together, created the most killer take-no-prisoners band of all-time. They were the standard that I compared everything I did artistically to throughout my music career.

Oh man! Takes me back to when I was riding on the bus taking us to our HS baseball games and I popped this cassette into my walkman. Best times ever

The 5150 tone/sound is my absolute favorite of Ed's many sounds in his decades long quest for perfection. Comes through here even on mere demo production.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!! A fkn PARALLEL 5150 EP. That was just like hearing it again as a kid! I can't believe I've waited all these decades to hear my fave album Part 1a.

5150 (the song, not the album) is one of Van Halen's best songs

The punch of this demo is just like being in the studio, so cool to hear 5150 in a new light!

💙... I remember when Elvis passed away.
He was genuinely loved by millions.
Eddie was like Les Paul or Django,
A genius One of the greatest composers that ever lived.
Maybe the greatest.
He created his own language within his music and redefined the very concept of sound.
His style was so completely realized that its identifiable from the first note. I watched every album drop and he never disappointed.
Eddie was a singularity....
The Apex.
Van Halen didn't just walk on stage and play some songs.
They were stadium Sellout's around the globe.
They paid their dues then they took over the
Eddie and Alex.
People often overlook Alex because Of Eddie's guitar work.
Alex is the The clock that made the whole Van Halen experience possible.
God bless the brothers Van Halen.... Theirs was the top of the mountain.
Thanks for the music.

Awesome!!! I was skeptical at first with all the other fake claim's of unreleased music from the van Halen camp! But this is the real deal! It's rare the boys release anything unofficial! All I can say is awesome and thank you so much for this post!!!!

I don't care what any one says, DLR was the foundation for early VH and was part of an era of fantastic songs. After he left, Sammy really did a kick ass job of taking over the reigns and being an amazing front man for the band. He isn't some chump stand-in. He's the Red Rocker who can really belt out some songs.

I always thought they should've opened the album with the song 5150.
Great debut album for the new lineup.

Eddie was at his peak on guitar, keys, and songwriting this album is great and Sammy is a great singer with a great voice and masterful Melodie’s, to come up with vocals over some of these songs is spectacular
