Magic Disappearing Money Prank

Prank victims are asked to watch over a cash register at a coffee shop while the cashier uses the restroom. It keeps popping open, revealing all the money inside. These are good, decent people who don't steal, so they close the register, but it keeps opening - except the next time it opens, the register is magically empty and the money has disappeared! Then it keeps happening... it's empty again, but then it's full again - what the hell is going on here?
