Cultivating gestures of empathy, stewardship and nourishment towards natural commons in the context of finite resources.

WE ARE ALL AT SEA
For Astrida Neimanis, water facilitates the gestation of all life between human and non-human as well as elemental and geophysical beings. Neimanis’ feminist writings call for a planetary ‘hydro-commons’, a shift in attention towards bodies of water and new political paradigm that extends beyond the human and beyond the present.

ASTRIDA NEIMANIS
Astrida Neimanis is a lecturer at the Department of Gender and Cultural Studies at the University of Sydney and Researcher in the Sydney Environment Institute. She is co-editor (with Cecilia Chen and Janine MacLeod) of Thinking with Water (2013), and author of Bodies of Water: Posthuman Feminist Phenomenology (2017).

Astrīda Neimanis uzskata, ka ūdens ir tas, kas padara iespējamu jebkādas dzīvības aizmetņus gan cilvēkiem un ne-cilvēkiem, gan arī dabas elementiem un ģeofiziskām būtnēm. Astrīdas Neimanis feminismā sakņotie teksti runā par planētas mēroga “hidro-koplietām” (hydrocommons), aicinot pievērst uzmanību ūdens ķermeņiem un jaunai politiskai paradigmai, kas sniedzas tālāk par cilvēcisko un tālāk par tagadni.

ASTRĪDA NEIMANIS
Astrīda Neimanis ir Sidnejas Universitātes Dzimtes un kultūras zinātņu nodaļas pasniedzēja un Sidnejas Vides institūta pētniece. Viņa kopā ar Sesiliju Čenu un Džanīnu Maklaudu sastādījusi krājumu “Thinking with Water” (2013) un sarakstījusi grāmatu “Bodies of Water: Posthuman Feminist Phenomenology” (2017).

What a great conversation! It widely opened my eyes to other ways of thinking about the self, the others, mother nature, the world in itself and the moral obligation and connection each of us has to the waters we belong to, or the waters we adopted or the waters that have adopted us all.
