Ex-NFL cheerleader accuses team of discrimination

Kristan Ann Ware, a former Miami Dolphins cheerleader, has accused the team of gender and religious discrimination in a complaint filed with the Florida State Labor Board.

I hate cheerleaders.. and find it a completely pointless sport.
But they make less than 10$ an hour and STILL have to abide by these ridiculous rules.

I don't want to offend anyone, but why does cheerleading exist in the first place? Does their presence actually motivate the men as they play or is it to make the sport more appealing to women because they're being represented in some way? And do we really still need it in our sports? I realize that quite a few women will lose their jobs if cheerleading is discontinued, but is it actually providing entertainment to anybody?

First of all you don’t just get on one of these teams because your “sexy”, these girls are trained dancers and athletes, so their job is not “sex appeal” as another commenter put it. And also even if their job was sex appeal does that mean that they are not given the same rights to challenge sexist rules and rules they don’t believe in? No! This is how change happens in the company and the world, no person should have to turn down a dream career because of ridiculous bigoted rules... they should be able to cause change if they felt discriminated against. Gosh.

Here's what gets me as a fan of the Seahawks: During the preseason, regular, or post season, cheerleaders start cheering, football players are out on the gridiron doing their thing to entertain the fans. Then suddenly, before/after the game, something like discrimination happens, it goes public. You can't bring up your virginity, race, or religion to work, that's stupid.
