It is one of the Hermetic texts and follows the common pattern of a dialog between teacher and student.

In the Hermetica, most often the teacher is Hermes Trismegistos and the student Asclepios, Ammon, or “Tat,” the son of Hermes. In the Kore Kosmou, Isis is the teacher and Her son, Horus, is the student.

Certainly, there were many more Hermetica than what has come down to us. It also seems likely that there were once more Isis-as-teacher texts than just the Kore Kosmou and the few fragments we have. This, of course, would make a great deal of sense: Isis and Thoth-Hermes—Egypt’s two great and wise Magician Deities—serving as the main Hermetic teachers. It is interesting to note that, as time goes on, more and more scholars are recognizing the genuinely Egyptian elements that are such an important part of the Hermetica. More on that later.

But in case you’re not familiar with Hermeticism and the Hermetica, here’s a brief introduction and then we’ll delve into Andrea’s question about the Kore Kosmou and discuss what the text contains.

Hermeticism & the Hermetic Texts

Hermeticism began as a late Pagan branch of esotericism and was one of the many products of the meeting of the ancient Hellenic and Egyptian cultures in the centuries surrounding the beginning of the Common Era. The primordial and venerable religion of Egypt, its ancient wisdom, and its eternal magic combined with the dominant Greek culture, religion, and philosophy to produce a powerful mix that continues to influence esotericism to the present day.

Hermeticism’s most fertile home was the great syncretic Egyptian capital city of Alexandria—a city that had honored Isis from its inception and which left an indelible stamp upon the Hermetic tradition. As religious wisdom and philosophy flowed into Alexandria from many cultures, it likewise flowed into Hermeticism. In addition to Egyptian and Greek Paganism, Judaism, Christianity, Gnosticism, and Iranian Zoroastrian all added to the Hermetic amalgamation.

Thoth; Trismegistos’ Egyptian original
The Hermetic texts address a wide range of topics, including cosmic principles, the nature and orders of Being and beings, the human desire to know the Divine, astrology, alchemy, magic, and medicine, among others.

Scholars generally place the individual texts of the Hermetica in one of two camps: the philosophical and religious Hermetica, or the technical—that is, magical or theurgic—Hermetica. The main philosophical Hermetic texts that have come down to us are contained in the Corpus Hermeticum, a collection of approximately 17 treatises written in Latin and Greek. The exact date for the composition of the texts is unknown, but they are usually thought to be dated to the second or third centuries CE. Technical Hermetica range more broadly, and are tentatively dated to a period spanning the first century CE to the fourth. It is quite possible, however, that at least some of the texts were based on significantly earlier models.

Thank you Doctor Litwa for your awesome and enlightening lecture on this particular form of Hermetic wisdom.
How refreshing not to be threatened with demonic and diabolical consequences from plagues, wipe-out floods, burning in hell and other cruel avenging punishments.
Hermetic principles are far more civilised and patient in allowing each individual to reincarnate in a different body to have another chance to purify ones soul. I imagine by the last incarnation one would be innately virtuous, resistant to temptation of worldly pleasures, philanthropic, wise, loved and loving and finally, soul shimmering, be welcomed home for rest, at last. Beautiful. 🌟❣️ Have you any interest in Hermes Trismegistus? Thanks again. Xxx

this is perhaps my favorite philosophical text, and hugely important to the history of science, it provides a theory of technological progress via the study of nature

Wisdom does not come to those with knowledge, only to the ones with understanding, you can having all the books in the world, doesn't mean you're Wise, you must understand them, knowing how to read them doesn't mean you understand them either. but it does grow a big ego that blocks the light of wisdom, which hides in the dark out fear, from a Bright Ego standing on his shadow at the sole of your feet.

Commenting on deities being depicted as adolescents, if you've seen "Erik the Viking", that was one of the details I really liked was how the deities were depicted and kids about 12-14 years old.

The concept of the soul's trans migration is fascinating, but I'm rather confused as to its origin. In Catharism the soul is essentially an angel, or 'divine spark' placed in the body to give it life, but the Hermetica is teaching the soul was created specifically to give beings life... But in order to achieve 'salvation' it has to improve itself. I can get behind the concept that the soul is essentially a 'fallen angel' and must prove itself worthy to shed this material world, but the idea of the soul being created as 'unworthy' from the start seems rather odd. The rabbit hole of these kinds of knowledge is at once truly amazing and bewildering!

Metempsychosis is such a tricky word to use in English. People think you're literally talking crazy. I like translating it as animatrix, but that was a widely loved anime set in the matrix universe. A stock android phone for example will capitalize the A in Animatrix.

So neologe away, all day, all about it. But we now have another confusing word with two meanings in English. To too two was already two to's too many if you ask me. But then again no one asked me.

I'll go away now.
Good day, kind Sirs and Metems.

The way I see it if vedic religions are among the oldest and hermetic religion was the firs1t religion, and if all religions stem from hermetic religion, it would make sense that the two religions would have many similarities...

Did he just say, he altered the translation, because he didn't like the Greek word, my question, how often does he alter translations, I have no clue what "Animatrix" has to do with "Psychosis", animals don't suffer from Psychosis.
Science suggests that numerous non-human species suffer from psychiatric symptoms. But there's at least one mental malady that, while common in humans, seems to have spared all other animals: schizophrenia. Though psychotic animals may exist, psychosis has never been observed outside of our own species.
Tell the scholar not to get confused with the female in HEAT, bring out what might look like Psychosis in the Male.
When earth is in Heat, we call it "Canicula", bring on the Flood.

It sounds like a mixture of hindu reincarnation and Scientology.

The model of this illuminates a model of religion.
You start out as a divine/stellar being
There is some impeity.
The impious are embodied
The religion offers some training that improves the divine soul
In death the divine soul is restored to the divine state.

This follows a model of the everlasting soul (sort of like gnosticism, zoroastrianism, etc).
It is exactly these pagan notions that I question the idea of soul. This idea of a divine breath that is breathed into humans.

The issue of what humans observed were cycles of life, things are born in the spring, die in the fall and return in the spring again. Alternatively animals migrated between different houses during the year, have offspring in one station, breed in another station. It is these migratory individuals that survive by tuning themselves to the cycles. But the cycles never dissappear.

But there is another way of looking at this. From mud (mineral), water, and air (gas), and radiation life pulses on earth. The cycle of life is driven the limiting of these things, in egypt generally the water. There are also cycles in the night sky and these coincide with the cycles of these sources of life on earth. So it is natural to make a connection.

But lets look at the cycles in reality.

The universe comes into existence
Things are objectified (the great womb of the material, the inflaton becomes swirling inflation)
Objectified coalesce into the gravid.
The instability of the gravid manifests in the complex objectified.
The complex objectified once again is captured into the gravid
Many cycles of this process occur until
The complex objectified is enriched in transcendental objects (objects that persist as the cycles of cosmic birth and death continue)
These objects bring forth the myriad consciousness which stuggles to find its meaning
The meaning itself takes on its own consciousness, eeks, words, sentences, paragraphs, chapters, books, volumes, libraries,
The meaning lives while the bodies that create the meaning die
Meanwhile the gravid are hopeless bound to create denser versions eventually black holes
These black holes consume everything leaving in their wake sterile singularity.
Meanwhile the transient meaning fate depends on whether cosciousness discovers the secret to being everlasting, in the end it perishes in the coldness of expansion.

Animals are not Gay, People are, animals get confused from the female in Heat, what makes you Gay, act strange is not the same, or is you animal.
When the Goddess goes into Heat, you folks get all confused, and the word falls into chaos. Do you know her cycle
