Now, I have been using Ganondorf against my brother lately, and he
cannot seem to beat me. We think we know why, and we think it puts Ganon
at the top of the tiers. I will be brief. Ganondorf has his air
forward. We call it 'The Punch.' It has that special hitbox like a
sword, hence it goes right through anything except an attack with that
same type of hitbox. It does 17% max, is relatively fast executing, has
basically instant recovery on a barrier cancel, and is quite massive,
killing at rather low percentages. If he misses, he can just do his A
punch if the opponent tries to retaliate, or shield/roll

Shine is unfathomably broken. It would be godlike if all it did was get frame 1 reversals out of techchase flubs.

For the laser vs needle discussion I think the turn around from needles makes them more valuable, I'd rather inhale a sheik over falco because needle turn around back-air alone makes kirby wayy better. Also you shine apologists are crazy its for sure the best move in the game

Also its pretty useless to think about a move being good based on how good it would be on other characters. A move is only good in context of actually being possible to use it.

Eval

imo feels pretty nuts to compare shine and rest. shine combos, gimps, has crazy shield pressure, makes reversals free at times, clanks way more than it should, leads to grab and up smash which can both kill the entire cast. rest is insane in its own right but i’d be pretty hard pressed to say it has even a 5th of the impact on any given match that shine does, especially when playing another floaty or mid weight character

No way rest is better overall than fox shine. While rest can kill early, technically fox shine can kill regardless of percent. It usually being safe, as well as being able to do it in the air and on the ground makes it just so much more versatile. Resting above 50% can lead to a trade most of the time, which makes it so much riskier than shine, which is probably the single safest move in the entire game.

Since egg throw would replace upB, it would be a huge nerf for most characters that live and die off of their flexible recovery. However, if your projectile move could be swapped with egg throw - I would argue that it would blatantly crush the rest of the cast if it was applied to most other top tiers. It creates setups. Close gaps. Kill off of stage, can be spammed, alter the trajectory of your opponent. And if your recovery is intact, theres .z.e.r.o. risk in spamming eggs at ledge. Eggs can ALSO be placed ultra-accurately or even be placed as a safety element in case you want to bait or guarantee damage. These are things aMSa don't do too often IMO but they are crucial since it enforce damage in neutral and is unavoidable for the enemy. Marth, falco, fox, puff, peach to some degree; Egg throw got an insanely high skill demand. But it always pays off linearly with how good you get. So it might be better to rank the move type instead or figure out how to evaluate egg throw.
