*TAKA ANGE MOTA E NA TEPUKA-NUI E*
(from Motutapu) circling around to Tepuka-Nui.

*KO TE AHIA MOTA KI TE KILI-A-TAI, NA TAI ATU E KI ATUTAHI E*
(from Tepuka-Nui) The breeze carried on, circling upon the waters of the lagoon to the shores of Atutahi.

*PUTA ATU, KI TAI I HAKASUSA E*
(from Atutahi) Arriving on the shores/beach side of Hakasusa

*SALE ATU, KI HANGALEI E*
(from Hakasusa) travelling through the breeze of the winds to Hangalei

*KO TE AHIA MOTA KI TE KILI-A-TAI, TU-KI TE PAPA O SOKOAU E*
(from Hangalei) The breeze carried on, circling upon the waters of the lagoon to the rocky foundation of Sokoau

*This part refers to the Woman (mentioned in verse above) rounding fish (Vete) on the beach.

*KO TE PITAKA NUI, KO TE PITAKA NUI*
The circling of the land/island – from Hanoa to Lukutia (note: the islets mentioned in the song are only some of the islets; the islets chosen to represent the island of Tongaleva in the song).

*KO TE PAPA IA O NA VAHINE*
The foundation (Tongaleva Island), the land from where the women/mothers originated from.

_Verse 3._

*TE UPOKO HENUA, KO HALEATA E*
The head of the land is Halehata.
(First wife – Head of the figure)

*KO TE UMAUMA E, KO HAKAKAINGALO E*
The chest is Hakaingalo.
(Second wife – the chest of the figure) = simply means the second Tongaleva wife.

*KO MATAUIA E TE PITO O MOANA E*
Matauia is the navel or centre of the sea/lagoon (Third wife – She comes after the chest; she is the navel. Painting her as the blue lagoon).

*TE KILI-LANGI-MANAVA, KO TINIOI E*
The beautiful Heavenly Blessed child in the womb of the mother is Tinioi.
(Refers to the unborn child with skin as beautiful as the heavens).

*TANGI KE – TANGI KE – TEPAERU E*
Greetings, Greetings, oh Tepaeru.
(Tangi Ke means Kia Orana/greetings/welcome in the Mangaia dialect – the island where Tepaeru comes from).

For this is the chain (5 mothers of the island of Avarau (Ancient name of Palmerston Island)

My husband is from Tongareva! He died in 2017. I miss the music. Reverand Tinirau Soatini is my nephew on my husbnads side, I am Anglican Priest so was my husband. We had a Tongareva church.
