My dad, after he divorced my mom, was so burned out on marriage that even after he met a really nice lady that loved him dearly, he wouldn’t marry her. It wasn’t the money for him, it was the trauma attached to the past. My dad passed away two years ago, and we still visit his girlfriend because she’s a sweetheart.

At the 7:40 mark Rachel asks if the lady’s concern is her boyfriend’s financial situation, and she replies, “Yes, it’s a huge deterrent!” Then Ken says that would have been nice to know 5 minutes ago. The lady literally started the show (at 10 sec mark) saying she was “secure in her assets and her boyfriend is not.” Her whole question revolved around fear if they move in together that her assets would become his assets thru common law marriage. Why was Ken surprised at the end when she repeated that? The very simple answer is if they move in together have an agreement that says all assets will remain in separate names…a prenup of sorts. Why was this call so hard?
