Giving Away All Our Toys

Ava & Alexis learn that giving is hard. Many of their toys are not age-appropriate so it's time to give to another child who can appreciate them. Giving away toys can be sad, but we want the girls to value people and experiences, not thing. We hoped they would understand but it looks like Ava isn't having it. Cleanout ASAP will help us make room for more toys. Ava & Alexis kept two toys each.

Check out our home organizers, Cleanout ASAP:

Seen a lot of comments about the girls not keeping any of their toys. Just want you to know they kept 2 toys each (didn’t keep that part of the video). They are happy and kids need to understand how to let go of things (material items)

Ava's reaction is my same reaction when I look at my check and see how much taxes were taken out 🤣🤣

This broke my heart, it’s good to donate but all of their toys at once ? I’d cry too.

Awh. My parents kept my toys! For my future kids! :) glad we still have them, they mean a lot to me, even as a 30 y/o.

My dad did that to me at age 9 and it impacted mw in a major way. I never forgot.

This happened to me when I was younger and I was only allowed to take a few things to go live with my mother and it traumatized until this day. I find myself not throwing anything away because of that exact incident. You grow attached to your things no matter how old you are.

Emotional overload. I would cry too. They're moving to a totally new place in another state. Then you're taking away all of the toys. All of that is scarey. That's a lot to take in.

My 30 year old still has her dolls that her daughters now play with. I wish I had my favorite toy from my childhood still, just for the memories.

I remember my mom once asked me if I wanted to donate some of my dolls and teddy bears when I was around 12. I didn't play with most of them anymore but I said I didn't really feel comfortable with getting rid of them as they had sentimental value and she understood. Kids toys may not be played with as much but they have a lot of sentimental value as they often helped them get through tough times. Whether it's a fear of the dark, making friends in kindergarten or getting lost in a public place, toys can serve as coping mechanisms that help children understand their emotions and think more clearly. Even if you promise to get them more toys, sometimes those new toys don't have the same value as some of their old toys.
Now if they have too many toys, you can get rid of the excess, but there will be 4-5 ones that really matter tbh

My heart broke for Ava😢I don’t like to see either of them cry. They will love their new toys I’m sure but I felt bad to see her cry

Watching this reminds me that i kept a doll that i got from a child until i was 30 yrs old, is when i finally let it go. That doll was just too special and unique to me.

I think they should be able to keep a few toys for childhood memories. I have toys still that ive had from birth. Im 18 now. Its just the memories and stories they tell. Ava is definitely me if someone tried to give away my care bears

There is value in still liking old things. I feel there is no need to push the disposable culture especially when the girls are still perfectly happy with their imperfect dolls. Just my 2cents.

I’m so sad for Ava. I still miss a cuddly toy my parents threw out when I was five. I’m now 76. Don’t do it. It will be with them for ever.

When I was growing up we moved overseas, I was in 3rd grade. My Mom got rid of all of our toys, we got to keep two items.
It was gut wrenching as a child, I'm 50 and I have never forgotten that memory, I loved my dolls and barbies.
That memory is a sad memory for me, this video made me feel sad.

Seems like they could keep a doll or two. You don't ever grow out of your favorite doll.

Gee-wiz! Normally I wouldn't even try to tell you how to raise your children! Why can't you allow Ava and Alexis to take some of their beloved toys with them! Big move to a strange new place to who knows where exactly, may seems crazy and scary to them. A familiar old doll or toy they had fun playing with could be very comforting in a strange new place, don't you think? Shavonne was more than a doll she was a dear friend to those girls! You almost sounds like you're asking your daughters to make choices of a much older child. They're barley six year old! Young and impressionable! Let them be little girls!

Hope you kept the cabbage patch dolls. I’m 55 and I still have toys from when I was younger. Maybe keep 6 items each.
