The 1800-year-old Udayagiri caves hold a rare Mukhalingam with a face, resembling Egyptian gods with its beard and necklace. Carved from a single rock, it showcases incredible craftsmanship. Destroyed details hint at its lost glory.

How lucky we are, that we have you to make these special arrangements, to view these special temples.
Shiva was worshipped all over the universe.

Im impressed how everything is one piece. They dug the cave, leaving an entire block of rock in the center, which they later sculpted the lingam. Impressive !!!!

I have been to these caves few months ago. It is in madhya pradesh near bhopal. If you go the caves at the ground level you can find many vishnu figures with Greek hair style. When i enquired i was told that these greek and egyptian influence comes from the architect of that century travel from the respective countries to help make these figures. These caves were built by then king i am not sure if that is gupta kingdom. There is also a fossil at the top level of the cave, but completely unprotected and exposed. Also a huge resting vishnu sculpture. These caves have details about the mother figures of karthikeya. Unfortunately, no preservation is offered to these rare caves. There is also a nearby prehistoric site called bhimbhetka caves. All worth the visit.

On one hand these special places have to be locked down, because there are thousands of unenlightened people who would want this to be destroyed. I mourned the statues of Buddha that were destroyed in Afghanistan. To any vandal, If you have not built it, what right do you have to destroy it. We need to protect and preserve for future generations. Record whenever possible. You are doing great work.

What I find fascinating is that there are no social media in ancient time but amazing how each are connected.

Praveen, please consider organised tours for people who have a deep interest in this history. You are brilliant 🤩. Thank you for your contribution. I live in the UK and have visited India many times ( I’m Punjabi ) however since watching your videos, I’m inspired to visit these ancient sites. I have visited egypt many times for the same reason .
