Applied Polyvagal Theory within Somatic Therapies with Arielle Schwartz
-----------------
In our upcoming interview with Dr. Arielle Schwartz, we will discuss key elements of somatic psychology through the lens of interpersonal neurobiology and polyvagal theory. Many of the symptoms of traumatic stress are due to an imbalance in the autonomic nervous system. Since these symptoms are as much physical as they are psychological, we need body-centered interventions to rebalance the body and mind.
Based on her work in applied polyvagal theory in yoga, we will discuss the tools to address these physiological imbalances through practices that allow clients to sense their body, change how they breathe, move stuck energy, and rest into stillness.

Arielle Schwartz, PhD, CCTP-II, E-RYT, is a licensed clinical psychologist, certified complex trauma professional, and Kripalu yoga teacher with a private practice in Boulder, Colorado. As an internationally sought-out teacher and leading voice in the healing of PTSD and complex trauma, she is the author of six books, including The Complex PTSD Workbook, Therapeutic Yoga for Trauma, and The Post-Traumatic Growth Guidebook. She is dedicated to offering informational mental health and wellness updates through her writing, public speaking, social media presence, and blog. As the founder of the Center for Resilience Informed Therapy, she offers integrative, mind-body approach to therapy includes relational therapy, parts-work therapy, somatic psychology, EMDR Therapy, and therapeutic yoga for trauma. She believes that the journey of trauma recovery is an awakening of the spiritual heart.

About the Felt Sense Polyvagal Approach to Trauma & Addiction group
The Felt Sense Polyvagal Approach to Trauma & Addiction Group is a place for you to explore with others, through a polyvagal lens, the experiences of trauma and addiction. We are focusing on understanding addiction through the lens of the nervous system, as an adaptive response to maladaptive environments. This group is growing in leaps and bounds indicating a hunger for change, for the kind of transformative change that polyvagal theory brings us. The group interacts online in the Polyvagal Institute Community on Mighty Network. Once every few weeks the group meets live on Zoom for an hour of exploration and discussion with a guest presenter.

Free to join, all welcome.
