Songs with ethnic vibes were very popular in the 2000's. I started to watch the contest in 2002 and I really miss the ethnic entries, in spite every year we have some, but I mean the 2000's were fabulous in that aspect. Helena is one of the most memorable winners, it was my favorite that year and she become in a eurodiva in spite of she participated in the contest before with a group called Antique.

I can still remember this being a huge hit in Europe. Hungarian radios played it all the time.

Helena Paparizou was a Godess to the Greek, and if you win it lingers on.

She's also came 3rd place in 2001 with the song I would die for you (she's in a band called Antique) and in 2014 she had the song Survivor in Sweden but she didn't win to represent Sweden.

I always go back to watch this one. It was one of the Eurovision years I missed after I started watching in 2002 and I'm always so pissed I missed the contest that year. This song and the performance have an amazing larger than life quality.

Sweden was so proud of Helena when she won, and we still are. <3
(lol only a tiny bit jealous she didn't compete for us that year)

I sure do miss good ethno-pop songs like this in Eurovision.

Maybe you should just watch a recap of each year and decide which ones you want to watch in full?

So, to clarify some of the confusion among the comments: Elena (or Helena as we in Sweden often refer to her) is born and raised in Sweden but with Greek parents. I do believe that she has dual citizenship as well. And us Swedes really enjoy saying that she's from Sweden (according to Wikipedia she lives in Greece now) and were very proud of her this year. This song became a huge hit all over Europe

Man U need life ! Thanks to Greece that makes as feeling like this like no other country can do . 🇬🇷🙏🏻🕊

Helena in 2001 was the reason I started watching the eurovision contest. She magnetizes you with her eyes, she has a great voice, she looks like a greek goddess! We love Helena, she will always gonna be our number one ❤️🥇

Elena Paparizou is a Swedish singer of Greek origin. For many years she was psrt of the Swedish Greek duo Antique with Nikos Panagiotidis as partner in wonderful Greek effect songs. I could suggest from Antique "Opa Opa" "Dinata Dinata" "Moro mou" "I Would Die for You". The last was a Greek entry for Eurovision 2001. So she was in Eurovision earlier.
